    Smooth with nice aftertaste
    Review by Christopher on 05/07/2017
I brewed this to compare with my favourite so far ( I'm trying everything! ); Young's Harvest Yorkshire Bitter.
They are now my joint favourite beers.. I'm drinking it far too early and I have it in a barrel.I don't have the facilities to cool the barrel. So, I just filled two beer glasses with really cold water, waited a bit, emptied them, then placed the glasses in the icebox of my fridge for a couple of minutes. I then filled half of one glass with the barrelled beer, waited one minute until the froth had settled and Hey Presto! it did the trick. The beer had cooled. I drank it quickly and then back to the icebox and rotated the glasses and I'm still rotating as I write and my head is not quite rotating yet, but I shall try! :-) Beautiful clear tasty beer with a perfect head and after-taste at the back of my tongue!

My go to beer kit for experimentation
    Review by Andybikeron 01/12/2016
I like my beers to be bitter types and I like to play with this one. You can make it conventionally with a kg of sugar or you can omit the step and brew as is and have a very low alcohol "Drivers beer" with great condition and flavour. I also make with syrups and treacles, with dried fruit and sliced ginger and play with the basic recipe at will. Made properly, it is a nice drop of bitter that is a great standby beer while you wait for your proper mashed brews.

A 5 star beer with 4 star instructions
    Review by Richardon 17/01/2014
As a complete novice to home-brewing, I thought I would start with a tin to make things easier for myself. However the instructions on the inside label do not really provide much depth into the process with regards to timings, ideal fermentation temperature and preferred gravities.
They seem to be the same instructions printed for all kinds of beer whether it be a bitter, stout or a lager.

In any case, I have tasted a sample when taking the gravity and it tastes very good, full bodied and rich in colour. Just need to let stage 2 fermentation take it's course.

    Very good brew
Review by Dog & Duckon 19/11/2013
This is the first brew I have made. Reduced it to 30 pints as an alternative given in the instructions. Brewed on 3/10/13 with OG 1.045 I siphoned it to another fermentation vessel on 08/10/13. Left it for 5 more days then siphoned to another fermentation vessel adding Beer Brite finings, bottled with SG 1.010 on 15/10/13. Moved to cold 23/10/13. 18/11/13 drinking now. It's lovely I need another.

Superb kit...... one of the best brews ever!!!
Review by Dow and Joy in West Waleson 22/11/2012
Been mashing grains and hops for years.... this is an excellent flavorsome kit....set off a brew this day 19th Nov in time for Christmas(like last year)...missed out the bottling... decanted into demijohns as we dont mind it flat!! and 5 gallons doesnt have time to go off anyway......I am a bit OCD about racking off the yeast though!!!

    Excellent value bitter
    Review by Johnon 19/04/2012
Nice easy to use kit producing good ordinary bitter. Tried it with and without spray malt and not much difference. So with brewing sugar a good, cheap, easy to produce ordinary bitter. Gets my vote any day.

    Top Notch.
    Review by Rodderson 16/08/2010
This was unbelivable for the price. Such a creamy head, I reckon you could stand a flake in it. Tasted very good and would give it 10/10 on both counts if I could.

    Not bad for £7.99
Review by Henry Two Handson 20/07/2009
I've made the harvest bitter a few times and it has never disappointed. I bought this in a nearby shop during the weekend (only because it was all they had), but this time I collected kelp from the beach and boiled that up for a couple of hours and added the seaweed flavoured water to the bin along with the malt, resulting in quite an unusual but not unpleasant flavour - I'm looking forward to tasting this in a few weeks time. For £7.99 you can't really go wrong.
