An essential piece of equipment for brewing
    Review by Chrison 22/04/2017
This syphon takes the effort out of moving beer between two vessels. It is very easy to use. It is also easy to sanitise which is the key - you can syphon with a tube but you will need to put that in your mouth to make a vacuum (there is much debate about the bacteria in mouthes and sanitation).

The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 and not 5 is that sometimes the plastic clip can come out at the bottom. This has only happened to me when I've dry hopped the beer and not contained the hops in a muslin bag (or otherwise). So advice would be - if you dry hop or add adjuncts into the fermenter, use a syphon net or put the additions in a hop bag. It is possible to put the clip back in to the syphon with a long wooden dowel but your mileage may vary.

    needs replacing after 2 racks
    Review by Davidon 20/12/2016
the kinks are indeed a nightmare, the clip doesn't work and hopefully i will find a suitable replacement as bottling is one hell of a process for one person (the kinks stop the flow).

    Does the job
    Review by Simonon 07/12/2016
It's a good syphon - I've just bought one to replace the same... after nearly 10 years I thought it might be about time to get a fresh one.

Can't really fault it as I don't usually bother with the clip, but I did mark a star down as has been mentioned the way it's packaged puts two kinks into the tube that you'll simply never get rid of. Perhaps they should make it with a silicon tube in future?

Easy to use, not so to clean
    Review by Rafaelon 20/11/2016
Good product. Well sealed and easy to use; it lacks of instructions on how to use or clean.

    works but!
    Review by guyleonardon 28/09/2016
I have had two of these now. They work great initially, but after a few washes the plastic shatters and cracks. I am not talking boiling water or even hot water, just luke-warm water and a bit of soap, then a rinse with Star San and then a final rinse with cold water is all they get. I don't know if I have just been unlucky twice or what I am doing wrong, but I don't think I will try a third time.

A bit disappointing but useful none the less.
    Review by Heathen Breweron 03/07/2016
I bought the syphon after convincing myself that all the reviews have been very complimentary about it. I took it out of its packaging only to find the 1/2" tubing was folded tightly in half during packaging. No manner of manipulation could straighten the PVC tube. Considering replacing it with 12mm food grade silicone tube. It is also a little bit unwieldy as the clip is next to useless with my plastic fermenters. The syphon works very well and just as it should making the transfer of large volumes of liquid quick and clean. Just a shame it isn't a little bit more secure to the side of my liquor vessels and they need to coil or even replace the tube with silicone.

    Much faster than normal syphon
    Review by Multi Bobon 31/05/2016
Absolutely love this syphon, has sped up my transfer speeds from fermenter to racking vessel or barrel. Easy to clean and use and almost hands free dependant on your fermenter. Only gripe is the bracket is not great with threaded tops on narrow openings on fermenters but works great on big lid fermenters where this can sit at the side. Overall highly recommended A*

    Auto Syphon
    Review by Paul on 03/05/2016
Got this to speed up moving beer from fermenter to racking bucket. So easy to use and it is mess free.
Couple of short strokes starts the syphon and it is fast . The clip holds it in place so it will not move.

Worked fine for the first couple of uses then broke
    Review by Samon 28/02/2016
Used this a couple of times and it worked great but on the 3rd use the plastic tube used for pumping the liquid cracked making the product useless - I'm not sure if I just got a duff one but the plastic seems far too brittle to be durable. Not too happy with how soon this broke.

RESPONSE FROM BREWUK - Sorry about that Sam. We'll contact you to arrange a replacement.

    could be better
    Review by Kimoon 10/12/2015
Had high expectations for this. Its ceratinly alot easier than just a tube so does make life better. Couple of issues though: 1)no tap on the end so I use a botteler on the to control between bottles 2) due to its length the clip cant always support any sideways movement o fthe tube causing it to slide about and disturbing sediment. Needs better designing but its defo better than just a tube and worth having

    Fast & easy to use
    Review by Jameson 24/11/2015
I found this siphon easy to use and also to clean. The clip is useful in stabilising the siphon so as not to stir up trub / sediment. Large bore size meant very quick transfer and no sediment was sucked up.

Why bother with the old fashioned method of sucking the end.

This is so easy to use and gives full control to the user.

    Well made, too.

Really easy to start the syphoning process, no messing about. Good length of pipe as well so you can get it right to the bottom of your second container. Well worth the extra money if you want to make your brewing life easier.

    Review by Victoron 06/07/2014
This product is simply fantasic. Perfect for bottling, along with a bottle stick bottling is so simple and quick. Transfering form one bucket to another takes no time at all as well.

Would be nice if a clip was available.

    Essential kit
    Review by Victoron 19/11/2013
As other reviews state, this make syphoning liquid between containers very easy. Practise with some sanitising solution before you need to use it though to get the hang of it. This way the syphon will be sanitised at the same time. I stuck the bottling wand from my Coopers starter kit on the end of the hose and bottled a batch of beer directly from a 23L glass demijohn. I managed to get much more beer out than a plastic bucket where the tap is fitted a little bit too high.

Bought this for use with my first ever brewkit after reading the reviews - amazing piece of kit and I could not imagine using just a piece of tubing rather than this!

If you've been considering one of these, or even if you're just starting out I would recommend it!

    Absolute Lifesaver!
    Review by Danielon 11/09/2012
Can't recommend this product enough. No more sucking on pipes and risking infections but more importantly for me the syphon has a sleeved ending that allows you to drop the syphon into the FV and not disturb the trub.

Great for syphoning loose hops when dry hopping too.

For my money it's one of the essential parts of your home brewing kit.

i like this much more than the simple tube you usually get, it is a bit harder to clean but worth it, the only thing id say is the main body could be more robust as ive knocked mine over before and it cracked the tube, it still woks absolutely fine thou! good product!

    Perfect for the job!
    Review by Steveon 06/07/2012
I bought this at the recommendation of a work colleague. As a new brewer, I had been thinking about fitting a tap to my fermentation bucket to avoid further messing around with a syphon. However, I've just transferred my brew into the keg with this and it was perfect - very little hassle, didn't stir up the yeast cake while leaving almost no beer behind.

    Highly recommended.

    Review by potboileron 17/05/2012
After struggling with the too-short piece of piping that came with brewing kit a couple of times (including almost choking on the beer) I bought this auto-syphon. I now regard this ingenious equipment as essential in order to transfer the beer from FV to barrel with zero risk of spillage and wastage.

    No more sucking!
    Review by Michaelon 24/02/2012
The best siphon I've seen to date. I own both this one (for transfer of larger batches) and its smaller variant (for bottling).

You don't need to suck to start the flow of liquid anymore. This means the siphoning can be started reliably without getting the hang of how long to suck, and no still unpleasantly tasting beer that's only passed primary fermentation will enter your mouth and has to be wasted.

Additionally, it has a detachable cap at the bottom - with it on, the flow of intake is slightly reduced but no more directed downwards, but sideways, with some distance to the ground - meaning it doesn't disturb the yeast cake much at all.

Lastly the buoyancy and angled pipe is apparently helping it to stay submerged even when supported only a little by the pipe. Net result: unlike my other siphons so far, it didn't slip out of the liquid during the siphoning process, even without using a clip.

    Review by BarrelBoyon 26/10/2011
Bought this to add to my ever increasing mountian of brewing kit, this is up there with the Little Bottler as an essential to make Brewing easier.
No more sucking on pipes full of sanatised water, no more trying to get beer to flow with Gravity, and thumbs over pipe ends, whilst wishing you had 3 pairs of hands.
This is a time saver, Beer Saver, and more hygenic than traditional methods!
Only down side is, does require a full brew 23 litre brew to get the syphon pump working, tried this with a 9 litre brew and could not get the beer flowing - something to do with physics!!
Buy one, no seriously buy one now!!

    Essential kit
    Review by simonpon 11/08/2009
Oh, how I wish I had bought one of these at the beginning!

Siphoning without one is possible, but very fiddly especially with one person With this there is no sucking on the end (which risks contamination). No messing running water into the siphon tube and then running into a spare container till your beer/wine starts coming through, then swapping to your main vessel.
Use one of these, pump 2 or 3 times and wacth it go!

Pretty easy to clean and sterilise, you can stick a tap or clip on t end of the pipe if you want.

The only downside I have found is that it is too big to fit in my fermentation bins with the lid on, so I can't stick it in the bin like I do all my other stuff pop the lid on and give it a good shake to splash the fluid around.

Bottom line is stick this on your essential kit list, why bother making life hard on yourself?

    Review by DanDanon 26/05/2009
Better than a normal syphon where you risk contaminating your wine/beer by sucking on the tube! just stick in and a couple of pumps up and down and you away! Has a little gaurd on bottom to stop sediment getting up the tube
