REQUIRES REFRIGERATION.

This extremely flocculent yeast produces distinctly malty beers. Attenuation levels are typically less than most other yeast strains making for a slightly sweeter finish. Ales produced with this strain tend to be fairly fruity. Fruitiness will increase with higher fermentation temperatures (70-74F, 21-23C). Diacetyl production is noticeable and a thorough rest is necessary. Yeast traps trub easily and autolysis during storage is accelerated. A very good cask conditioned ale strain due to rapid and complete flocculation. Brilliantly bright beers are easily achieved without any filtration.

Origin:
Flocculation: Very High
Attenuation: 67-71%
Temperature Range: 64-72F, 18-22C

    ESB

Simple way to get active yeast into your FV. Kicked in within 24hrs and looks very busy.

    Great yeast
    Review by Lake Breweron 23/12/2016
Very nice yeast variety. I have just used this for an allgrain ESB.. 25 litres in the fermenter at 1051 OG. Pitched the yeast and next day I had a really active ferment. 5 days later and just the odd bubble from the airlock. left for a further 6 days, and it had cleared nicely FG 1010. On tasting all, the malt flavour was there and it had slightly fruity note. Very flocculant, leaving a bed of firm trub in the bottom of the vessel making siphoning very easy with virtually no waste. I am very impreesd wih this yeast.

    Reliable yeast
    Review by Billon 01/09/2015
So far I have found WYeast activator packages to be very reliable and as the yeast strain has a very dramatic effect on beer flavour it's worth venturing away from the limited range of dried yeasts. If worried by the price it's worth looking at ways to store or re-use active yeasts, there's lots of info online and YouTube.

    Top Yeast
    Review by TheDoctoron 11/12/2012
I have used this yeast in a few of my own recipies now, as well as some of the BUK kits.

What I particularly like about it is:

It frements really well, lovely krausen and has never seemed to go crazy, just a good steady fermentation.

The yeast settles out really well, beer from the FV is pretty clear and once bottled, it only takes a week or so to clear.

It's a sticker! This yeast stays stuck to the bottom of the bottle really well, meaning that you get almost a full bottle decanted when you pour. I've used other yeasts that aren't quite so sticky and end up leaving about an inch and a half behind.

I would recommend this to anyone as a good yeast to start experimenting with, it is very forgiving and produces great results.

    Well....
    Review by Jameson 19/10/2012
I don't think this will be a great review as I must be one of the only people to have smacked a smack pack and not had it activate. Undaunted I tossed the lot into the cooled wort, airlocked and stuck in the brew cupboard...no change for a couple of days and I start to worry.

I email brew who advise me on a few things that I may have missed and when it becomes clear the Wyeast pack was one of surely a rare number of duds, the top guys here at brew forward me a replacement liquid yeast which was shipped quickly and is now going absolute great guns in my fermenter.

Not a review about how great the Wyeast is but a review about how great the guys here at brew are.

    Thanks

    Great Yeast
    Review by Mogon 23/04/2012
I've used this in making bitter, best bitter, old ale and porters. It starts quickly, ferments really well, clears without needing finings and gives the beer an excellent taste. My yeast if choice!

    Not bad at all
    Review by Robinon 14/04/2012
After having a few bad experiences with these smack packs this one worked great. Popped the bag the night before as I have found the 3 hours stated on the pack is never long enough to truly wake up the yeast.

Next morning it had fully swelled, mashed a simple best bitter recipe, pitched the yeast and fermentation started reasonably quickly.

The beer cleared really quickly with a little isinglass in the barrel and was perfectly drinkable after a week. This yeast is supposed to be from the Fullers brewery and as a friend commented the beer definitely had a "London pride flavor about it". Which is exactly what I was after!

    Good stuff.
    Review by Monkon 06/08/2011
    I agree with Ratman.
I usually finnish with Isinglass, but my ESB came out of the fermenter clear and perfectly drinkable. Has produced a complex brew with the marmalade overtones already mentioned.
Will defo' be using again, splitting 3 ways to bring the cost down.

    Brilliant!
    Review by Ratmanon 04/08/2011
I've been brewing for some time now starting with kits. Now I’ve moved on to recipes from the British Real Ale book.
Wanting to recreate a favourite of mine I decided to make the Fuller's ESB. I needed yeast that would help in the process. This did not disappoint in anyway at all.
It fermented well and quickly, I left it for 2 weeks but was complete before that, then bottled. I did a few "testers!" in clear bottles so I’d know when it had cleared. This only took 1 week without the help of any Irish moss etc.
It's been 6 weeks now and it has really made the difference over any other yeast I’ve used before. The flavour it’s created is complex with marmalade overtones. It is more expensive but in my humble view so worth giving a go, you will not be disappointed and yes it turned out very close to the ESB you’ll buy in your local. Proper result!

    Great Yeast..
    Review by Neilon 28/09/2010
This is my first time of using liquid yeast and i have to say i am very impressed.

It's quick reacting less than 24hrs after pitching and it's bubbling away nicely. Has a good thick creamy head on it and i am now playing the waiting game before putting into the secondary.

Will wait to see what the final results are but so far things are looking very good indeed.
