Details

Nelsons Revenge was originally developed by the brewery to celebrate Norfolk's seafaring maritime past. Sultana fruitiness is balanced by a hoppy bitterness, to give a full, but light feel. The finish continues to develop into a warm, mellow glow This is an exceptionally popular kit. Our customers think this tastes similar to London's Pride. Approx 5% ABV 3kg "Real Ale" kits based on recipes from the Woodfordes Broadland Brewery in Norfolk. This brewery has built up an enviable reputation for producing a super range of beers, many of them award winning. All recognised for their impeccable quality & flavour. One of the most popular all malt ranges, consistently producing great brews. No additional sugar required.

    One of my faves!
    Review by Richardon 20/03/2017
I'm chugging away through a keg of this just now, it's well worth leaving this one for a month to develop if you have the will power! It turns into a well rounded malty full flavored brew with a very "adult" palate.

    Best yet
    Review by edon 08/01/2017
I am still looking for my perfect kit, but this will do until I find it. I know I should go back to an old Ken Shales recipe I found in "brewing better beers" many years ago but lack the time.

I haven't brewed this one up yet but if it's as good or better than the one that comes with the kit then I'll. Be over the moon, couldn't fault that so no doubt this will go down the same way, ( with ease ), great pints can't fault them

    Perfect
    Review by Christopher on 18/11/2016
This is the third beer kit I've brewed ever. I bottled this one instead of barreling like the other two.Cleared very well and much earlier than expected..Keeps its head. Nice aroma, can't describe it. Good aftertaste. Feels clean and smooth to drink. Took longer to brew due to my lack of proper temperature control. Therefore I left it "in a warm place longer than specified. It turned out perfect for me. I'll try to save some to see if it improves. I'll try!!!

Absolutely brilliant beer. Full of taste and body. As good as you will get in any pub. Not sure what James (review22/9/2015 ) is on about , 18 litres , this is a 36 pint brew!!

First time for me and after 3 weeks in the bottle, very nice indeed. It will only get better, if I can keep my hands off it

    Favourite kit brew ever!
    Review by Leojezon 17/05/2015
I've done 5 kit brews and this is the best! I can't recommend it highly enough - a beautiful pint and you really do get that Dundee cake taste coming through. Easy to brew and drink. Only downside was when it ran out!

    Excellent
    Review by Edon 09/02/2015
I have neither the time nor inclination to go back to brewing from scratch. It was not until I tried Nelsons Revenge I found something that totally suited my taste buds, and it is so easy.

Slightly confusing instructions, but excellent beer - better than the pub
    Review by ChrisHockeyLetchworthon 14/10/2014
I got this for xmas and a few months later, one evening when my wife was out - i thought i would give this a go. The end result was superb. The first couple of pints (2 weeks in) were a little chemically - but after that it was really excellent. I couldn't quite work out how to keep the barrel pressurised properly (again - poor instructions) - so next time my plan is to bottle it all once it is ready - and then store it that way. Enjoy a great tasting beer. I am about to buy another lot of beer to give that a go in time for Xmas!

    Good beer - Good service
    Review by Ian Baldwinon 27/08/2014
Kit arrived promptly from BrewUK. This is an excellent kit. Easy to ferment at 20-21C producing a nice tasty beer with a good head from 85g sugar in the batch prior to bottling. Very drinkable after a couple weeks but leave it for 6 weeks and WOW. Super flavour & dark in colour. 99% clear in the bottle. A real favourite of mine. I also like Wherry but this has less of the caramel taste. Easy to make so no reason to give it a go.

Simple to use website, good prices, prompt delivery and good information - couldn't ask for more. I knew the beer from previous brews, all of the Woodfords kits are very simple to use and consistently good.

    Quality Ale
    Review by Adamon 24/09/2013
This ale and the Woodfordes wherry bitter, and admirals reserve are all 5 star ales in my opinion, however they're different in their own way. The Nelson's Revenge - as well as having a great name - has a full body and refreshingly powerful taste to it, I'd recommend to anyone who likes full bodied beers and ales.

    Woodforde's Nelson Revenge update
    Review by Pillyon 05/06/2013
One month later and the Nelson's Revenge is almost gone. Fantastic flavour, beautiful colour. Just as good as a pint from the pub but at fraction of the cost.
Have another Nelson's Revenge in the fermenter.

I was looking for a stronger beer than the Woodford's Wherry. My third Woodford's kit and my 1st Nelsons Revenge. Simple to make. great flavour, cleared easily. However, as with the other two Woodford's kit, if I had added the full amount of water as per the instructions, I would have struggled to get the final alcohol level as stated on the box. Instead I have learnt, after my first attempt, to add water until I get the required initial gravity. To achieve this I work it out backwards: the final gravity should be below 1014 with an ABV% of 4.5. Therefore top up with water until the initial gravity is 1.049.

    Excelent kit!
    Review by Brunoon 14/03/2013
I brewed this kit as my first attempt at home brewing and after 3 weeks in the barrel the results were outstanding. I thought about giving it a go for years and always had my doubts, but this one certainly convinced me to carry on. The Woodfords kits are a pretty safe bet as it seems very unusual not to have a good result. I rate the Nog as well, along with the Admirals Reserve. I will continue trying many different things but will buy plenty more of this kit as its one of my favourites and money well spent.

    Review by COLINon 16/01/2013
Second Woodfordes kit and this one is excellent ,was cloudy but moved into a cooler area to clear and it turned out perfect. Left it in a barrel for around 6/7 weeks to condition well worth the effort , got another on the go ,great flavour .

    Best kit
    Review by paul on 08/01/2013
I've done this one dozens of times now

Has become a favourite with good results every time. Really excellent kit beer, the best I've done by far.

Have started doing a bit of all grain brewing but continue to do nelsons and other woodfordes kit to keep stocks up as produces such good results with very little effort

    Cheers
    Paul

Very easy to drink with a full flavour, not a session beer though as I found out the hard way! Was ready in a fortnight for me, but I had it racked somewhere quite cool. Definitely be doing this one again.
