People couldn't stop drinking it! I messed up the instructions and it came out at 5.7%. Still it was really nice. Recommended.

    Very nice porter
    Review by Paulon 19/06/2018
I am now on my third batch. My first batch was tasted by my cycling club colleagues at a birthday party and everyone was quite impressed. The latest batch is going in bottles and will be kept for the darker, cooler evenings. I might even try adding a wee drop of port to half a gallon and see how that goes.

    Superb Porter
    Review by Robon 09/05/2018
This will rival anything you buy in the shops. Handed this out to lots of friends and every single one of them has raved on about it. So Moorish I have drunk all of the ones I kept for myself so I have ordered it again!

    Great Brew
    Review by Andyon 22/01/2018
Brewed this for Xmas. Admittedly I have drunk most of it :) but my sports colleagues have had the pleasure of a couple of bottles, one is convinced this is THE best I have brewed, always good to get a second opinion. Have now had to put some aside for a trip later in the year for him !!

Will be on my next order

    Very, very nice beer
    Review by paulfitzson 11/11/2017
I got this as the flavouring interested me. I have a Brewheat Boiler that is really stretched with the volume of grain/water required. I mashed about a kilo of grain in my slow cooker set on low and only put this in the grain bag at sparging. Again the Brewheat is limited when boiling so I took off a gallon of wort and boiled that in a Dixie on the stove top with the hops and put it all together in the fermenter with the main part of the boil. I got a fairly efficient extraction as I got close to the stated 1047 OG by reaching 1045. I didn't risk fermenting too long as fermenting was static for a couple of days at about 1018. I bottled up and am leaving the bulk to mature for a month or so. I've tasted a bottle already and am very pleased. Nice, smooth, silky without too much roasted flavour and not too much hop bitterness. The vanilla is quite subtle but is part of the all round taste. I am delighted with the result and will certainly try this again. The instructions are brief and trimmed to the bone but if you've ever read up on the brewing process you'll have no trouble following them. The ingredients are packed separately and clearly marked. After the first pint, you will have a problem resisting the second.

    Very very tasty
    Review by Ianon 22/03/2017
Having never tried a Vanilla Porter I plumped for this AG kit. Bought ages ago and only just got round to making it up. Absolutely lovely pint.
Instructions are clear but did need to put into BeerSmith so I could accommodate my equipment profile and still arrive at the correct OG/FG/ABV.

    Don't hesitate!,,
    Review by Andrewon 11/12/2016
This was the follow up to my first Grainfather 49er brew. I was a little concerned my water here in Swansea was too soft but this is a fantastic recipe and produces excellent result . Currently have 4 different brews in kegs for Christmas visitors but without doubt this is everyone's favourite. Have had to start rationing it out as it has become the wife's favourite and I know were my priorities are as she keeps telling me. Will probably leave the Vanilla in for a few extra days next time.

    Cracking Vanilla Porter
    Review by Neil B 73on 23/11/2016
After a 2 year hiatus from home brewing i decided it was high time i dusted off my stuff and made another beer. Looking through the recipes and having the love of porters and stouts I saw this one and immediately thought this was for me.

Instructions are very easy to follow and the resulting beer is absolutely stunning! This has to be my best home brew to date.

I recently brewed this and after two weeks FV and two weeks in barrel at room temp and then one week at around 14c under stairs it's a very nice pint!! The best porter I have brewed so far. As usual the quailty of the recipe pack was top notch.

    Velvet in a glass!
    Review by Adam on 11/02/2015
Great brew to make, as ever ingredients well packaged and clear instructions. 1 week in FV then 1 week conditioning plus nearly a week in the fridge clearing. Perfect balance of malt with a clear but never overpowering vanilla flavour. Went down extremely well so just about to order another kit
