    Excellent way to start
    Review by Sparkson 09/09/2016
Since I started brewing only a few months ago now, I wanted to start a full brew but did not have the equipment. This is the perfect way to start, it's so easy and the instructions are perfect. I can't wait to taste the outcome, I'm sure it will be good by the look of it but I can't wait.

    Perfect to start
    Review by Ciaranon 01/08/2016
I always wanted to brew all grain beer but found the start up costs a little too much for a hobby I wasn't sure I would enjoy. I'm glad I got this. The smaller batches mean you can try many more recipes and all the equipment can be found in the kitchen.

I brew 40 pint batches now, but I still use this set in order to test a recipe before I scale it up to that size.

confusing paper instructions in kit - can't you update and add as a pdf to website?
    Review by Steevoon 01/03/2016
All fine except three things for a totally new brewer with whom nothing can be taken for granted! :-

    - says make up yeast with half the pack - nothing then about the other half - keep it? throw it away?
    - the instructions on using the tubing and clamp for syphoning - can't fathom them out at all.
    - making up the sterilising solution - I'm guessing the unlabelled silver foil pack is the steriliser for a start er, thankfully the hops have a label. The instructions talk about saving some steriliser powder for bottling and making up 2.5 litres for the cleaning of the initial brewing kit but no mention of quantities to use / retain from the sachet.

None insurmountable, I will Google it all and work it out, but a little more clarity would help and potentially avoid pitfalls.

RESPONSE FROM BREWUK - SORRY ABOUT THIS. THE CLEANER SHOULD HAVE HAD A LABEL, PLEASE EMAIL US AND WE'LL HELP WITH YOUR QUERIES OR COME OVER TO LIVE CHAT WHERE AN EXPERT WILL BE WAITING TO ASSIST YOU.

Great, but instructions could have been a bit clearer
    Review by luke023on 12/06/2015
I found myself doing a lot of Googling because I don't think the instructions were that comprehensive. However this was my first ever brew in any shape or form and I was delighted with the end product.

Vanilla Porter- perfect way into brewing
    Review by Mike Gon 07/04/2015
My brewing started out with a Coopers starter kit, which has served it's purpose, but I soon grew bored of adding tinned extract to hot water and moved to all grain, once I'd saved enough cash to upgrade kit etc.

The Stove Topper Starter comes with nearly everything you need to start and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

As mentioned this starter kit has pretty much all you need apart from two large pans, any cheap large pans will do, Ikea stock big ones but also my local tat shop unexpectedly had a big selection of pans in that fitted the bill, in addition a funnel and a filter like the earlier reviewer or as i used a colander lined with cheap voil as a filter. My colander was just big enough to hold all the grain from the mash.

From start to finish the brew day took me 3 hours, the small amount of water means that getting the liquid up to mash temp and the subsequently reaching boiling took no time at all. Compared to an extract kit which used to take me just under two hours with sanitising and clean up etc.

The important bit… how did it taste, the description the kit comes with sums it up pretty well, I really enjoyed it. It had a strong vanilla nose and to me it had some of the underlying flavour characteristics of Anchor Porter which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

I also passed on a couple of bottles for tasting at my local Homebrew club Macclesfield Homebrew, meet at 19:30 on the last Tuesday of the month (shameless plug) and despite some brewing critique (it had only been in the bottle for 5 days so hadn't fully carbed) the feedback was positive, comments like anchor porter, cream soda, strong vanilla nose and it was very much enjoyed.

I really can't fault this kit and if it had been around a couple of years ago it would have been my preferred routed into brewing firstly being cheaper than the usual starter kits, secondly a more immersive way to get into brewing, thirdly having brewed both liquid extract and all grain all grain is more fun and tastier.

I'll be looking to purchase the 23l batch over the coming months and rebrewing on a bigger scale, as for the starter kit equipment this will be perfect for me to brew on a smaller scale and experiment with my own recipes before scaling them up for a bigger batch, it's less painful to ditch 1 gallon then 5!!

    A well deserved 5 stars!!

A great introduction to All Grain brewing
    Review by Johnny on 04/03/2015
Being a complete novice to home brewing I took the first step with the Stove Toppers starter kit. You get everything in the kit you will need apart from mashing/boiling pans (I bought 2 8 litre pans from Ebay) a large funnel with filter(bought from BrewUK) and bottles or a keg to put the beer in. That's about it. The pack comes with full instructions to help you along the way which are very easy to understand and follow.
I found this kit a great start on my road to AG brewing. I bought another Stove Topper kit for when this brew is finished.
Delivery was very quick and I was kept informed all along the way. Everything was packed very well and a really good after sales service. Also the Forum is invaluable for help guidance and a good chat about everything beery!
