The best tap we have seen for attaching to a plastic barrel use this to replace the drum tap that comes with the barrel. This tap has a vertical lever flip top action, it can be pressed down or pulled up and locked open. It has a sparkler nozzle that can be adjusted to perfectly control the head on your beer, the difference that this tap can make is amazing.

Can be used with both tap and bottom tap king kegs as well as standard barrels.

    Good Tap
    Review by Allanon 23/10/2017
A good tap for King Keg barrels though more expensive than the traditional drum tap a good buy

    Is this an improvement?
    Review by Alanon 31/08/2017
Bought this as I have been gifted a pre-owned King keg without a tap. I was a bit dubious in view of the reviews which mentioned it leaking. Yes, it tends too. I think that I have resolved it by a little judicious pressure on the top of the tap handle, whilst rotating it slightly backwards and forwards. The first 24 hours it leaked like a sieve (quarter of a pint). However the fix now seems to be working. As for the 'sparkler' I cannot see that it enhances the tap. With it screwed right up as per your normal pub sparkler, nothing comes out at all. Crack it open and you get a stupendous head (and no beer to drink). Open it just a little more and it may as well not be there. My opinion - throw the sparkler away, condition your beer correctly and keep the pressure up with a CO2 bottle. Works like a charm, albeit an expensive charm.

    Drippy
    Review by Gileson 06/04/2017
Sad to confirm what others have said, it drips. The only solution is to park it upside down when not in use.

I can only assume the rubber insert which opens and closes the flow isn't quite big enough.

    Don't waste your money
    Review by ian784on 14/10/2016
Have had a couple of these now and they both have the same fault, they drip constantly. Returned the first one to the seller and received a replacement which has exactly the same fault. I was told when I returned the first one that it dripped because there was possibly too much pressure in the barrel. Saved the second tap for a fresh brew where I reduced the amount of priming sugar from recommended 100g to 60g, it has made absolutely no difference.

It's a real pity because it is the best quality plastic tap I have seen for a pressure barrel. I don't think it would ever leak from the screw thread, unlike cheaper taps, but at the end of the day if your precious brew is going to end up in the drip tray it's not of any use.

Maybe one day somebody will produce a quality pressure barrel tap that doesn't drip or leak, but until then the search continues. Sadly this isn't the answer

    Great, but expensive
    Review by Michaelon 07/07/2016
All of the reviews are true. This really is a brilliant tap. However, it is just plastic like £3 taps so I cannot understand why it is so much more expensive.

This is a necessity if you own a barrel
Review by Andy r on 02/07/2016
These taps are a necessity if you own a barrel. With these, long gone are the days of a 4 inch head to settle before you try and pour your next drop. How ever lively you beer is , these taps give you complete control over how your beer is poured. They may cost a little more than the conventional taps but they are well worth the spend. I have 3 25 year old boots pressure barrels which I was going to replace, but they have now been transformed with these taps. Awesome .

    Works well
    Review by Turtson 07/06/2016
This tap is a great addition to my pressurised keg - it allows me to create a better head even when the CO2 pressure in the barrel is a little lower. However, you need to be careful when first pouring a new keg that you don't have it too tight unless you want a glass full of head!

Great piece of kit, considering buying more for my other kegs when I next order.

    AMAZING
    Review by Multi Bobon 31/05/2016
Honestly if you have a barrel get this tap. Works great and you can actually control the flow rather than having half a pint of head from silly drum taps. Works so good I had to order two more for fellow brewing friends. Buy now you won't regret it :)

    Control at your finger tips
    Review by nellybrewon 28/04/2016
What an improvement this product has made from the original tap that came with my pressure barrel. No more beer with 1/2 pint of head! It's easy to use and gives good results every time.

    Brilliant tap
    Review by TonyGon 09/04/2016
This tap is quite expensive but worth the money. I was plagued by dripping barrel taps but tried one of these as a replacement, since then I have bought two more. The new taps haven’t dripped at all and you can fill a pint glass in 8 seconds without ending up with half a pint of head.

    well worth it
    Review by Andrewon 21/03/2016
Like all of the other reviews, really. Fitted onto my basic pressure barrel that came from wilkos - fits perfectly and a vast improvement over the basic sideways turning tap.

Pint pours perfectly in a downward direction, without spraying everywhere, and there's no ambiguity about where the off position is.

    Perfect pint every time.
    Review by Rosson 15/02/2016
These are worth every penny! They provide a perfect pint and allow good control of the amount of head you want on your drink, much better than the standard taps...

    Good tap big improvement.
    Review by Chrison 12/02/2016
This tap is quite expensive but when compared with those supplied with my barrels it is a big improvement in terms of ease of use, control and the quality of your pint. Previously I have used a jug then decanted into a glass, with this you can pour directly into your glass. I will convert the others ahead of their next brew.

Like all the other reviews state, it's a total winner
    Review by kdmudon 28/01/2016
Just fitted to my latest brew which has now cleared in King Keg. Works great and a big improvement over the original drum tap. Now my pals can pour their own pints without spraying beer everywhere!

    deluxe sparkler tap
    Review by beerandbeardon 21/10/2015
Bought 3 of these & I think they are great. First they don't hurt my joints (arthritis) & you can control the beer flow so much better & get a good head on a pint. In my opinion one of the best taps I have ever used

    Vast improvement over standard taps

Slowly converting my 4 standard barrels over to these taps. Much more expensive but much easier to clean and much better for pouring your hard earned brew.

You'll wonder why you ever tolerated the standard keg taps
    Review by RobdeBearon 13/02/2014
Bought 2 of these for top dispensing King Kegs and since fitting (takes 5 mins) have ordered another 4 so all the kegs are sorted.

I haven't actually used the sparkler attachment yet, just the tap itself but the sparkler screws on easily. You must remember to remove it after a session and pop it in a sterilising solution so that it doesn't become glued to the tap with dried beer overnight. Apparently it can become stuck tight and of course you can't easily take the tap off to soak it free when its on a full barrel of nicely pressurised beer.

So easy to turn the flow on and off, and control it even when under high pressure.

A MUST for any keg, in my opinion.

    Excellent
    Review by Keithon 24/01/2014
Not being much of a fan of the drum tap I happened upon the Deluxe Sparkler Tap. Although coinsiderably more expensive than a drum tap it is VASTLY supperior - to the point where all my barrels will soon have one. Beer is dispensed under full control no matter what the state of top pressure. The tap works equally well in top or bottom mounts and is a joy to use. If there was a sixth star I'd tick it!
