Details

Full bodied amber beer, juicy malt with a tempting dark fruit aroma and caramel flavours that develop into a pithy bitterness. Each Simply Beer Kit has been crafted with help and expertise of dedicated master brewers. Each Kit uses a blend of high quality malt extracts from numerous producers around the world, with the addition of genuine brewer's yeast used in each and every Simply Beer Kit. The Simply range uses the latest advances in technology and packaging. Each Simply pouch is 'cold filled' with liquid malt extract as opposed to the traditional 'hot filled' canning method, by doing so makes for a fresher tasting beer. By using a pouch enables us to use less packaging materials and helps reduce cost by up two thirds, allowing higher quality ingredients to be used. Requires 1kg of brewing sugar or beer enhancer. Requires standard basic brewing equipment (fermenter etc). Makes 40 pints. ABV: 4%

An easy kit that clears quickly
    Review by Jerryon 07/08/2013
This kit is very easy to use. It is one of the cheaper ones but don't let that put you off. I always use Brown Sugar with this blend and have never failed to produce a smooth, nutty ale, that clears in the barrel in about 10 days.

This is one of my regular brews that always produces a clear beer.

    A fine Beer, given time!
    Review by Benon 08/08/2012
I decided to try this kit out to have some sort of comparison point for the more expensive 2 can kits. I brewed it up with a 1kg of Beer Enhancer and let it ferment for 2 weeks before bottling it in Coopers PET bottles.

I tried a bottle about 4 weeks after bottling, and the first thing that struck me was that it seemed quite over carbonated. The instructions on the back of the packet seem a bit enthusiastic to me - half a teaspoon of priming sugar would probably be more to my best. The beer itself was a perfectly fine drink, but nothing too exciting. I kept having bottles over the next few weeks as it improved and was happy to drink it, but probably would have tried something else next time.

However, I'd hidden a couple of bottles away in the cellar for later testing. I shared a 1 litre bottles with guests, about 9 or so weeks after bottling and it was really quite excellent. Good enough that people were asking for seconds and decided to move away from their wine and onto the beer. The last few bottles were happily polished off!

While this isn't the most exciting drink, at it's price it's really quite good, so long as you have some where to leave it for a couple of months to come into its own. I suspect I'll brew another batch with a eye to a few months down the line!
