    consistently reliable
    Review by Chrison 29/10/2017
I use this yeast a lot - rehydrate 30min before pitching in 100ml of boiled water at 35-40degC. (no need for a starter in a 21ltr brew) I ferment at a starting temp of 18.5 which I slowly raise to 20.5 over 10 days.
Fermentation is always stable - never going mad as with some liquid yeast strains and FG for my American style IPAs (usually about 14days) is always about 1.010
I am confident I'll always get a good beer with Safale US-05

    Keep In Stock
    Review by Igoron 09/10/2017
I always keep some US-05 in stock, it's my default yeast and always gives very good results. I just sprinkle it into the chilled wort at about 20-22 degrees and within 24 hours the fermentation is in full flow.

    American IPA yeast
    Review by Tonyon 25/09/2017
Used this for the first time as it was in the recipe; rather than going for my usual Mangrove Jack or Wyeast.

Was short of time so just sprinkled it on top rather than creating a starter, but it worked very well.

Now just to taste the beer in another month

    Used many times
    Review by Rosson 21/09/2017
Usually a toss up between this and 04 for my beers, both are very reliable and have always fermented down to the desired gravity. Beers sure usually around 4% that I brew.

    Good yeast, would recomend
    Review by Markon 08/12/2016
Been using this yeast for the last 6 SMaSH brews I have done. Usually I just sprinkle on to of the work and after 24 hours its away fermenting. The last time however after reading up on why to rehydrate the dried yeast I gave it a go. The fermentation was underway in just under 12 hours, so i will be rehydrating in future. As always a great product delivered fast by brewuk

    Review by Graemeon 07/09/2016
I love this yeast for making american style IPA's it gives some great esters during fermentation, it's great as you can keep a few in the cupboard and the price is very reasonable, compared to the liquid yeasts.

First time I try this one but really liked it. It's a slow fermenting yeast which does not interfere with the hop aromas. I liked it.

    My go to yeast
    Review by Michaelon 08/06/2016
I can always count on US-05 to brew most beers without ever having to worry about diacetyl or other off flavors. Does great with pale ales, IPAs, cream ale, porter, etc. I always rehydrate according to Safale's instructions on their website which results in a vigorous fermentation within 12 hours. Ferment low and slow (around 13) to get a light peach ester in a pale ale or wheat beer.

    Reliable performer
    Review by Stephenon 28/05/2016
I followed Safale's rehydration instructions and, after the 30-min stirring session with the aid of a stir plate at a low speed, attemperated the slurry by gradually adding small amounts of wort until the wort temperature (20°C) was reached. Yes, a bit of a bother compared to adding dry yeast directly to the wort, but you're rewarded with a lovely tasting beer with no off-tastes.

    Has never let me down
    Review by Gavinon 06/04/2016
This yeast is superb. Previously I used liquid yeasts with starters, but the type of beer I enjoy are generally crisp, refreshing with a balance between hop bitterness and sweet malt. This yeast is very forgiving, works hard and produces excellent beer, I've used it for loads of different styles and it has never let me down.

    Review by Danon 24/07/2013
Takes off like a rocket (I hydrated this time, but I've just chucked them into the fermenter in the past) and attenuates low and clean, even at relatively high temps. If nothing else, keep a satchel on hand for emergency purposes.
