Reliable English-style ale yeast, fast working and clumps together nicely, hence it's straightforward to siphon and bottle etc.

One of the best and most reliable yeasts, my beers are always done as 'real ales' and find this good for conditioning and clarity.

    Never Fails
    Review by Grahamon 31/03/2017
I use this yeast for most of my all grain brews. It starts within hours of pitching and delivers a clear liquor after fermentation and drops cleanly to form a firm sediment in the bottle.

A fine all purpose English ale yeast with a firm foundation on the bottom of the fermenter

    My Default Ale Yeast
    Review by Martinon 04/02/2017
I have found this to be a very reliable yeast that starts within hours of pitching, doesn't add any noticable flavour and, in my experience, finishes low at about 1.010 in my average beers that start around 1.045 to 1.055. I have used it several times now and never had any problems whether rehydrating it first or simply pitching direct onto the aerated wort. Usefully when used in bottles the sediment settles compact in the bottom of the bottle making it easier to pour.

    Fast working
    Review by Edon 01/02/2017
First time using 'proper' dried yeast, did not disappoint. Used this rehydrated in 100ml boiled water. Fermented at 19C, vigorous fermentation within 12 hours, mostly done in 4 days. Attenuation as expected for milk stout.

    Its a good 'un
    Review by Robinon 09/11/2016
For bottled beer this yeast is ideal. It stays in the bottom of the FV when racking and stays in the bottom of bottles when bottling. I use it in all my simple ale recipes.

Like using S04 for English pale Ale. Yeast stays at the bottom of the fermenter, you get a nice and clear beer

    Great Yeast and good price
    Review by Graemeon 07/09/2016
I love this yeast for British style bitters and IPA, it's good quality and the price is great, the real plus is you can keep a few in cupboard for those days when you have the sudden idea of brewing, personally prefer this to similar liquid yeasts

Does the job... But nothing to go crazy about.
If you want a good flavour from the yeast try liquid or if you prefer to use dried yeast, Mangrove Jack's yeast is also good.

    S-04 yeast.
    Review by Paul on 03/05/2016
After being let down by a liquid yeast I turned to my tried and trusted S-04 dry yeast . It was bubbling away in 12 hours and soon finished the 23 litres of bitter. 3 days and it was at the required gravity.

    Easy, consistent yeasties.
    Review by Edwardon 06/04/2016
I've yet to break this yeast, seems happy to pitch directly onto anything with sugar in and get going!
Convenient packet size to have a few in stock in case of unplanned brewdays.

    A great neutral guest!
    Review by Davidon 28/07/2015
S-04 is my most used yeast as it is a reliable yeast which always successfully ferments for me and doesn't produce any strong yeast characteristics in the finished beer, therefore allowing your hops and malt to shine bright! Brilliant for heavily hopped America Pale Ales and IPAs.

A reliable yeast. Got to work within a couple hours of pitching and did the job for a great batch of Summer Lightning.

    My go to yeast
    Review by Cornet_Horneton 24/05/2015
Under ideal conditions this stuff sets off like a rocket and has a high level of flocculation. In not much time at all I'm left with clear amber goodness.

    working but slow
    Review by brew buzzon 07/10/2013
The first pitch did not start but i had ordered 2 incase of this and the second did take though took tome to get going. I suspect this was my fault though as i had forgoten to swith on and the temp droped to 17deg. as yet not tasted but I hope for little taste from the yeast. if so I may have been harsh with the rating just on the first failed pitch.

Produced my beat pale ale to date using this.

    Extremely Pleased
    Review by Frothy Moustahioon 12/03/2013
I bought this as a replacement for the yeast provided by a Burton Bridge Summer Ale kit that I misplaced the supplied yeast for. Really pleased with the result, cleared up nicely and gave a nice steady ferment for longer than what I usually get with the nondescript white packets supplied with the beer kits. I followed the instructions on the packet rather than just sprinkling the dried yeast over the surface like I'd usually do. Will be using this yeast and technique in future brews for sure.

    Lively
    Review by Schonenbergon 30/10/2012
This yeast is very active. I use it all the time and have a spare packet just in case one doesn't fire up prior to pitching. Been brewing a couple of years now and that's only happened once.

    Excellent for home brewing
    Review by Peter on 15/05/2012
I have used this yeast before for ginger beer making as we brew our own and I find this the best yeast to use. We use an Old Jamaican recipe and this ale yeast seems to be a fantastic ingredient for this process. The customer care from BrewUK was also excellent as they did let me know ehn the order was going to arrive, and it did. A very good experience all round and I would definitely recommend this product and the company to anyone who is interested in home brewing.

    Superb Yeast
    Review by WillJohnsonon 30/04/2012
This yeast is just brilliant. It's really good price through BrewUK and works no matter how much punishment you give it. My fermentation temp was down to 11 degs C Due to a broken heating element but it's still fermenting really well!

I used this around 6-7 times its what I call a Bomb Proof Yeats. Can't really go wrong with this, I've dropped it in hot wert at almost 30 degrees, still worked just fine. Not that i would advise it.
