Details

Our Grains are supplied fresh from our local supplier Warminster maltings. We stock crushed malts but we can get any of the malts whole if required, please contact us for more details. Warminster Malt is handmade using traditional floor methods, one of only 3 maltings in the UK still producing this way. The malts produced are of the very highest quality and the better the ingredients the better the beer. All around Warminster, the chalk soils of Wiltshire produce some of the finest barleys in England, and provide the best source of raw material for the maltings.

    Excellent Traditional Malt
    Review by Grahamon 02/04/2017
I only use this base malt in all of my brewing. It produces excellent results whether used in cooler-based mash tun or in the wonderful Grainfather. I don't think it is worth trying to save a few pence per pint on cheaper alternatives as the results from this sack of Maris Otter are superb.

    Great for school sports day
    Review by HOMEBOY BREWERSon 23/09/2016
Do they still have school sports days, or have most local authorities sold off all the playing fields to private developers, if not the bag is great for the sack race....sorry i got slightly off topic there, back to the product itself , its great for pale ales, bitters, heavies ,stouts and porters and depending on how "big" your beer is it should be enough for 4 or 5 brews. total grain bill for a fiver(aug price), how good is that.
some people may be concerned at the size of the bag and storing it, but i keep mine in the living room, forget about the smell of freshly baked bread or brewed coffee, try a big bag of malty pot-pourri it smells lovely.

Best Malt on the market at the best price.
    Review by Danon 19/09/2016
Many moons ago I recall watching a video of The Kernel Brewery. In the video they revealed that the base malt for all their IPA was Warminster Maris Otter. I sought out the malt and have not gone back since, I noticed a massive improvement on the finish of all my pale ales and IPA’s. The mouth feel and taste are spot on. Brew UK have the best prices for this product, the only place I have seen it at this price is collecting it yourself from the Warminster malting’s itself.

After my first bag I'm sticking with this. Tastes good, stores well. Don't know how long meant to keep for but I had this for 12 months before finished bag and still looked and tasted good.

Bagged it all up into more manageable sized zip-lock bags, noticed a very consistent grind texture throughout the whole sack. Impressed!

Great grain that goes a long way!
    Review by Vestanon 05/01/2016
Can't compare the efficiency of this to other similarly manufactured malts, but I have always met or slightly overshot my targets! Bought this last summer and have just got to the end of it sadly. Kept in a 'blue barrel' it has remained very fresh and lasted well. The ease of always having malt to hand for whenever the brewing opportunity arises is a real blessing. I need another...!!

    Good stuff!
    Review by Michaelon 15/09/2015
I agree with Alistair's comment below. I was using Crisp malts that I obtained cheaply from a local brewer. However, I never really achieved a good extraction from it. This malt that Warminster Maltings supplies to Brew UK is a lot more efficient. I recommend it.

    Fantastic quality malt.
    Review by Alastairon 25/06/2015
Until I tried this, I had been using Crisp malt (trying to buy as locally as possible). This is not the cheapest malt available, but it is superb and I found that it gave superior results over the Crisp malt on every brew I have made with it. You get what you pay for, and I would wholeheartedly recommend that you spend a couple of pounds more buying this malt;- you won't be disappointed! As for buying locally? Maybe a move to Wiltshire would be in order?!

    Quality malt
    Review by @kungfuramoneon 08/06/2015
Having recently upgraded to a 100l kit, I've had to upgrade my ingredient qualities to accommodate. Buying 25kg sacks makes things so much easier and comes in handy for impromptu brewdays, Plus you really can't go wrong with the quality of Warminster's malts!

    Excellent pale malt
    Review by Paulon 21/01/2015
I tend to favour Maris Otter as my base for ale brews and the Warminster brand is reliable. Using around 10kg or so for each brew the 25Kg sack is by far the best and most economical size to purchase.

    my go-to malt
    Review by Timon 19/07/2013
before i bought this I thought Maris Otter was Maris Otter. Waqrminster malts really are something a bit special. This stuff is the best I've bought. it is now my go-to malt as a base or for SMaSH brewing. I'd like to think it was my brewing that produces great beers but in honesty the quality of the ingredients should really take the credit. The 25kg sacks make it such good value too.

    Love this Pale Malt
    Review by Danon 05/04/2013
The Maris Otter Pale Malt is excellent and gives consistently good results. I'm buying East Kent Goldings and Fuggles Hops and brewing Pitchfork, using Dunstar Northern yeast. Very happy with the results - thankyou Brewuk! (delivery times are very good too).
Also really pleased that it is locally produced (Warminster).

Maris Otter is one of the best varieties.
    Review by Nickon 05/03/2012
I ordered a sack of Maris Otter which arrived promptly and in excellent condition. The smell is fantastic and makes you want to brew straight away.

I have already brewed before with the same variety and indeed the efficiency is definitely improved compared with the German/Belgian varieties I've used previously.

    Review by Robon 14/06/2009
The warminster maltings grains are the freshest I've had. Made a summer lightning AG and its tastes amazing, better then the real thing. Great price too, especially as I added the hops and yeast and still only got charged for one delivery. Highly recommend Brew for speedy, quality goods and v.competitive price.
