    Rich and juicy
    Review by AlexPon 08/11/2017
a great dark ale with lots of complexity and sweet overtones. Very similar to the real thing when compared side by side. Really comes together after a month or two but even at first taste (1.5 weeks) it was great.

    Not so Peculiar
    Review by Christopheron 31/08/2016
Got to say that the delivery was quick, the product was well packaged and the instructions were incredibly easy to follow. The best and most important fact was that this brew is extremely similar to Old Peculiar! So much so that I honestly don't think I could tell the difference in the blindfold test, and I would class myself as a seasoned OP drinker :)
The only comments that I've had from my associates on the "taste panel" was that this brew is "very sweet". When I brew this again I will probably reduce the amount of sugar for secondary fermentation. All in all great product and a lovely drop!

    Yep, Old Peculiaresque
    Review by Richardon 23/06/2016
Worryingly malty after one week in the bottle, but TWO weeks in and the flavours have harmonised deliciously - it tastes great. Not exactly like OP (yet?), but close nonetheless. Enjoying it very much now, and looking forward to where it heads over the next few weeks.

    Will enjoy again.

If you like Old Peculiar you will like this
    Review by Martinon 20/02/2016
Nine days to ferment and after only a couple of weeks in the barrel this is eminently drinkable. Lovely and smooth with subtle flavours, quite sweet, full bodied and although it is different to the real OP I would say that if you like Old P you will also like this. I am sure the flavours will only strengthen and improve with age if I can refrain from drinking it that long!

    Well Worth The Wait
    Review by Shrekon 25/04/2015
28 days in fermentation including a stuck moment at 1.020 which required intervention. Concluded at 1.013 and bottled and left to condition for 14 days after the second fermentation. Result - an absolute clone of old peculiar. It's sweet and smooth and full bodied . Highly recommended.

Would go down a treat in Masham
    Review by Paulon 22/01/2015
Being originally from North Yorks and old enough to remember drinking Old P in the pub next to the brewery in Masham when Theakstons was still a true independent brewery I had to give this a go. Well, all I can say is this is a great kit!!
I did forget to add the last dry hops 3 days into the fermentation and added these in after 7 days but the results are still excellent and well worth a go.
After around 6 weeks conditioning I thought this tasted a bit more like Youngs Double Chocolate than Old P (certainly had a definite chocolate note) but 2 weeks later and compared directly to a bottle of the original there was very little difference between the 2 and I'm not sure if that may well be down to the late dry hopping. I'm keeping 1 5 litre keg to see how good this is after another couple of weeks (don't think I'll be able to hold out much longer!) So good my second kit is on its way and I'll make sure to do the dry hops at the right time this time around but I'd highly recommend this (and for that matter all of the extract kits I've tried!).

Great beer with my own modification!
    Review by Debion 30/05/2014
Easy extract brewing, nice beer. I modified the recipe slightly by adding some smoked malt at the first stage and some port soaked smoked chips into the bin. Easily my favourite. Abv came out a bit stronger than stated, yum! It improves further on resting in either barrel or bottle.

    Relax
    Review by Bernon 05/09/2013
This is the beer to give yourself a treat , with a good taste,
then half way down the glass a real after taste appears in
    the top of the mouth.
TIP: bottle then leave for about 4 months it is worth the wait.

    Incredibly flavoursome brew
    Review by Dazon 23/01/2013
Out of 5 BrewUK Extract kits this is definitely the best so far, incredible full-on flavour just like the real thing, very moorish. Best bottled and left for 2 or 3 months. Mine came our pretty strong at 6%, perfect by the fire on a cold winters evening.
