    Excellent ale
    Review by Andyon 28/04/2017
Easily the best kit I've tried yet, albeit I've only done 3. It came out a little under the expected ABV, but was very similar in taste to Adnams Broadside you can buy bottles. I took some to my parents for Christmas and my dad asked if I could leave some for him, praise indeed.

This is definitely on my to do again list.

    Good ale
    Review by Alexon 05/06/2015
This ale is a good one, has a taste that definitely grows on you. Very easy to brew and strong. I under did mine and it was strong at 21 litres. A very nice brew that I'd try again.

Great for Christmas but you may reach for something else after a couple
    Review by JudeSunFloweron 29/05/2013
I brewed this for Christmas 2012. Lovely pint - a real winter warmer (and didn't we need it?)
Very sweet and quite heavy ... So if you need to concentrate during your festive celebrations (e.g. assembling a child's toy) take it easy. Very simple to brew - you cannot go wrong and certainly wont be disappointed.

I am only giving it four stars because, when it came to the crunch, I had another brew I preferred! It probably deserves five. A Christmas cracker.

A really nice dark beer, it got better and better the longer it was left in the barrel.

    Be patient
    Review by amosquitoon 18/03/2011
This was a cracking beer. I barrelled the beer after fermenting for eight days, believing fermentation to be complete. However after three weeks in the barrel it was still very cloudy but had terrific pressure so I probably had not completed the initial fermentation. I'm considering going over to a secondary fermentation procedure before bottling/barrelling in the future. Once the beer ran clear after about six weeks what a cracking brew; full of flavour and very moorish. And for the first time ever I didn't need to top up with CO2.

    You know you've drunk it.
    Review by Maarrkon 29/11/2010
EASY to make. (it must be - I think mine's OK) I was recommended this kit by a more experienced brewer, and was not disappointed. Like the first review, I made mine in mid-October, and am trying to patiently hold off 'til Christmas. Nice tasting beer, but I think it prudent to ration oneself to max. 2 bottles per night, otherwise the stairs could prove tricky.

    Improves with age
    Review by Mr Hon 19/11/2009
bought this kit with a friend to split the brew for Christmas. Fermented well and bottled up on 5th October. Tried a bottle after 3 weeks found a very strong brew with a real bitter taste coming through. Tried one on 13th Nov and what a great difference in taste - well rounded and smooth with a lovely 'Caramel' taste coming through - good amount of gas and clear with a good head. Conditioned very well - def improving! Will it make it to Christmas before i demolish the other 16 bottles? Its gonna lead a charmed life!

do secondary fermentation in the bottle. A strong beer. Tastes very nice, but slightly too sweet.
