Heartily recommended - now on my second brew
    Review by Paulon 24/07/2015
Made this (40 pints) at the start of the year with Beer Kit Enhancer for sugar, and was very impressed for a "standard" range kit. I've been back home brewing for a couple of years now, and this was probably my best beer to date. It was a decent pint after a couple of weeks in the keg, but left for a couple of months it became very good indeed - a really good depth of flavour and body for a 4.5%-ish ale.

So I've just brewed it again, this time up to about 34 pints, again with Beer Kit Enhancer. Hydrometer say 5.7% ABV - a little stronger than I'd intended, oops!

It's been in the bucket for a month or so, but I kegged it last night and had a quick taster. Very promising indeed, and I can't wait for this one to be ready. Again, a good depth of flavour, nicely balanced, and expected to improve still further with a month or two in the keg.

Normally, I like to experiment with different kits, but will probably be brewing this one regularly at about £19 including the BKE. I've brewed several premium 3.6kg kits recently, but I think I rate this one at least as highly.

    A good product
    Review by DavidLon 14/01/2014
I have used these kits many times and always a good brew with quick fermentation and clearing quickly. I usually use beer enhancer for more bitterness and better character. I transfer to barrel after 5 days and start drinking after two or three in the barrel. It tastes good and the yeast content does me no harm. I hold back about 100g of malt extract to use instead of priming sugar; this and drinking early means I never use the CO2 injection system. Ensure you have a good pressure relief valve if you do this.

    My first failure
    Review by Neilon 25/07/2012
This was my 6th kit and my first Muntons. Unfortunately it looks as though it will be my first failure. After 10 days fermenting and 4 weeks in the barrel it is still very cloudy and doesn't really taste of much. I appreciate that there's a whole host of things that can affect the success of brewing a kit so I have given this kit 3 stars rather than 1. I'll hang on for another month before disposing of it, just in case.

I'm not sure that I'll be trying another Muntons kit any time soon and will stict to the Woodforde and Brewferm kits that have previously been such great successes. Brewferm is definitely my favorite, even if it means sterilising dozens of bottles.

    Excellent IPA
    Review by Mr Roadon 29/01/2011
I brewed this to a slightly higher % than it suggested on the instructions about 6%. It was a very smooth hoppy ale, excatly what I look for in an IPA. The friends who sampled it agreed it was an excellent brew. I shall definatly order more.

    Outstanding flavour and so clear.
    Review by Big Timon 01/04/2010
This was my 3rd brew and the best so far, If I was served this in my local I wouldn't be disapointed.
It took just a week to ferment and to clear about 2 weeks after fining twice as recommended by my local home brew store (Thanx Pete) I left it for a further 2 weeks and then tasted - wow is all I can say, The best tasting beer I have tasted for a very long time.
Recommended using the spraymalt and sugars 1kg beer enhancing kit for the extra £5 its well worth it so its about 48p a pint - Got the next one in now for the summer rush.
