    Quick and Easy
    Review by Igoron 09/10/2017
I use this mill with a cordless drill and a Brupaks 30 Litre bucket, the board that has a circular slot that fits this bucket perfectly. I use the fastest speed that the drill will go at and even then it produces really good results. At high speeds it generates quite a bit of dust though, so I always mill grain outdoors.

    Good but beware
    Review by Franckoon 06/09/2016
I decided to take the next step in all grain brewing and mill my own grains to try to add more freshness to my beer and to not worry about the shorter shelf life of pre-milled grain. This mill fit the bill. It was easy to assemble and offered an easy adjustment mechanism to set the crush size. The hopper holds about 2kg of grain and an electric drill can be used to drive the mill. Hence you can crush 6kg of grain, my approx. typical batch size, in a matter of a few minutes. Cleaning is easy enough by using a stiff bristle brush on the rollers and the whole assembly can be dismantled to do a thorough clean.

There is a downside that you need to be aware of though. After a period of about 15-18 months I noticed some rust on the rollers. They are steel and not stainless steel. The manufacturer states they should be stored in a cool dry place but doesn't define those terms. My mill was always stored dry and in a cool place but the manufacturer accused me of negligence when I asked them about my problem and BrewUK only supported the manufacturer. It's unclear what their 3 year warranty actually covers. My advice is to make absolutely sure there is no moisture on your rollers and store them in a very dry place - maybe even in a bag with some desiccant especially if you don't use them very often.

    Review by Gon 25/06/2014
After much research, once the eyes had stopped watering at the price of three-roller mills, I went for this baby - and at under half the price of its more well endowned siblings, it's a no-brainer.

After years of grinding away with the standard hand-cranked Corona style of mill, building muscle but losing fluids through sweat, using this was a sheer joy. After attaching cordless drill and discovering that it's best not to use it in reverse, I actually found myself laughing out loud with glee during the few minutes it took to grind six kilos of grain to perfection. I had to resist the urge to immediatley grind another six kilos just for the hell of it!

There's not much else to say, really. It mills grain, and it does it very well.If you want to mill grain very well, then you need to buy one.

Just one thing, and that's to invest in a set of feeler guages (if you haven't got a set already). You can pay silly money, or just £2.60 from Toolstation. Your call. You'll need them to set the roller gap to get the degree of crush you like to work with.

You can of course opt to stay with the factory setting of 1.27mm, but I adjusted mine to 1mm for a slightly finer crush. Some prefer finer still, claiming it increases mash efficiency, but whatever your thoughts on the subject at least this gives you the option to experiment, as it's a doddle to adjust.

For the record, I managed 83% efficiency, which is a few percent more than usual, so I'm a happy chap.

    Great price adjustable malt crusher
    Review by Duncanon 15/05/2014
This is excellent value compares to competing malt crushers. Out of the box the crush gap is meant to be set to 1.27mm... mine needed some adjustment as I think the roller had shifted in transit, but I decided to stick with that setting and it was easy to reset with a feeler gauge. The removable crank can be easily replaced with an electric drill for a very quick grind, I was able to crush 5kg of grain in less than 10 minutes.

The malt rollers and stand are quite sturdy, but the grain hop is a little thin... it would be easily bent if not looked after or stored safely. It helps if you're not clumsy like me.

While this is the only malt crusher I have ever used, on its first use it has proven its worth over using pre-ground grain. Alongside a few other tweaks to my brew, I gained 10% efficiency over my earlier attempt to get roughly 90% efficiency out of my Braumeister. For only my second ever AG brew, this is quite pleasing! At roughly half the price of the most popular homebrew maltmill, I can't see what you'd be getting for the extra money. Great product!
