    King Keg bottom tap
    Review by beerandbeardon 21/10/2015
First time I have tried a bottom tap keg & still not sure if I like it. Changed the tap to a sparklet & raised the keg & so far so good

    Better than the standard barrels
    Review by Kickbackon 17/02/2014
As per roppa's review these are good solid barrels. They have a couple of features which make them better than the economy barrels and, in my view, worth the extra money:

Wider neck - its easy to get your arm in the barrel to give it a good clean. When I clean my economy barrel I have to use a brush and it's very difficult to scrub every part of the barrel. It also takes a while. With these barrels its easy and quick. They are also great it you want to fit a tap to the barrel which has a back-nut e.g. a little bottler. You can't get a back-nut inside the economy barrels (although I have attached such a tap to an economy barrel without using the back-nut i.e. just screwing it in which worked fine although I was nervous I'd get a leak).

Stronger handles - with my economy barrel I keep having to use pliers to pinch the wire carrying handle back in place as it comes loose with the weight of carrying 23 litres. These kegs have 2 much stronger handles which makes carrying it around a lot easier.

Why "just" 4 stars? The ease of getting the barrel to seal is no better than the standard barrel (but no worse either) and they cost more money.

In conclusion I have both an economny barrel and a King Keg and if I come to buy another barrel I will spend the extra money and buy another King Keg.

    excellent barrel
    Review by roppaon 02/04/2010
i got one of these and they are excellent quality barrels. these barrels are of good solid construction and with proper maintenance will last you a lifetime. the only complaint i had with this was the drum tap, it was tight to turn and awkward to get to properley (as i have big hands) also the flow from the tap is poor for pouring out your beer. i replaced the drum tap with the wide neck wine fermenter black tap. now i can pour the perfect pint, the flow is excellent from this tap and easy to turn. i would recommend if you buy this bottom tap barrel to pay the extra few quid and get the wine fermenter tap, you wont regret it!
