Details

30 Ltr Insulated mash tun for steeping grain to produce sweet wort. Can mash up to 10 kgs of grain at once. Includes stainless steel wort strainer. Pre-heat the mash tun by filling it with hot water (not above 80c) and fit the lid. Meanwhile heat the mashing water to 75-80c (2.5 litres per kilo of grain). Empty the mash tun and refill it with the brewing water. Stir in the grains making sure there are no lumps and taking care that the strainer is not dislodged. When all the grains have been added check that the mash temperature is within the range 65-67c. Adjust if necessary with cold or boiling water. Fit the lid and leave undisturbed for 90 mins. Meanwhile heat 20 litres of water to 75c for sparging. Position your boiler beneath the mash tap. Slowly open the tap and draw off 2 litres of wort. This cloudy wort should be returned to the top of the grain bed. Allow the sweet wort to flow slowly into the boiler. Adjust the tap to achieve a flow-rate of approximately half litre per minute. The boiler can be switched on after approximately 5 litres has been drawn off. Sparge (rinse) the grains with the water heated to 75c ensuring that the grains neither flood or dry out. Continue to sparge until 25-30 litres have been collected, then boil with the hops in the usual way. Purchase 3/8" bore tubing for the tap to run off to the boiler. Sold Separately see right hand side. Approx internal dimensions : 22cm W x 25cm D x 38cm H

Does what it's supposed to - way overpriced
    Review by Jonathanon 18/10/2015
As a functional item it does it's job, apart from the tap, very hard to turn either way and doesn't offer much in the way of flow control - it's pretty much either on or off.

I've just priced up the parts used to make the tun - £37. Should have made my own!

Easy to use and easy to clean
    Review by Nickon 05/02/2014
We had never done any brewing of any kind and went straight for this. I can't compare to others but we found it very easy to use and to clean. Just waiting on the beer now!

    Good AG Kit
    Review by Jameson 17/06/2009
Although this is a glorified picnic hamper, it works really well and I've done 3 AG batches already. I'm no good at DIY so this is ideal and got me setup with the minimum of effort. The grain filter is easy to clean. Really pleased with the results, tastes amazing and can't wait to get the next batch going, just go to decide what to brew next.
