  1. 100%
A very dark, strong traditional style.

This was very easy to brew.
I used yeast from the bottom of my fermenting bin after brewing the IPA kit as it had absorbed the hop flavours. As there was about a litre of this yeast the fermentation was swift. I had little option anyway because there was no yeast in this kit!
There is a smaller amount of hops in this case than in the Razorback IPA but a lot more brewing sugar.
I think that I would have preferred more hops for this kit because the malt extract is so full of flavour itself to tht point that it overpowered the hops.
The result is a full flavoured traditional beer but not very bitter in my opinion. Next time I will add more hops or maybe nettles (boiled and STRAINED)
I should add that nettles are a good addition for most beers adding earthy pungent flavours to the brew. However in large amounts can give rise to rather vivid dreams.
Overall this kit performs well giving a very substantial end product. I find myself mixing it with the IPA to add hop flavour improves it but others may not agree that it needs any tweeks.
This is one that's going to improve with age, and already tastes like a good barley wine after only 2 weeks in the bottle. It will take extra sugar if you want a higher strength, I used household sugar dissolved in boiling water and it worked very well.

    Excellent dark ale !

1st. time at brewing this ale I am well impressed with this. It is dark in colour and is very pleasant in tasty and very moreish. I got an abv of 6.5% using the supplied ingredients. I am drinking it only after 1 day in the barrel as I cant wait 2 to 3 weeks for it to mature. It is a good strong Ale with a good body. I would buy this one again as it so easy to make up with all the ingredients supplied in the kit.
