    Mixer with a Kick
    Review by Paulon 19/06/2015
Great Value kit to easily make a fiery ginger beer with an alcoholic kick.

This is the first time I have brewed a coopers Ginger beer kit, normally fermenting out beer.

The slow start with the yeast, and very subtle bubbling and lack of froth worried me, as did the lack of yeast layer on the bottom of the FV on bottling.

Fermented with 1KG of brewing sugar for 2 weeks, wasted a few litres at the bottom of the FV on transfer to bottling bucket as was expecting a layer of Trub like a beer kit, and as this is a cloudy product could not tell if this was yeast or drinkable product - so down the sink it went.

A week in bottles, poured ICE cold with Lime and Vodka...... Delicious!!

Will know next time what to expect, and to bottle the entire contents of the FV to save any waste.

Only down side is the instructions are a bit vague for first time Ginger Beer Brewers.

    Ok, but not again.
    Review by Eddieon 12/09/2012
Not tried this yet, but disappointed to see its full of artificial sweetener and needs their own carbonation drops at bottling with no instructions for adding normal sugar.Still undergoing fermentation so may write another review after sampling.

    Review by jamesrt2004on 18/07/2012
First brew from a kit, went well, goes down even better!

just primed after 4 days, tried one as was tempted! very nice flavor (still a little sweet maybe but not fully primed yet)

Definitely recommend as something to experiment with (lemon, extra ginger, sultanas etc..) :)

    Highly recommended
    Review by Damienon 16/07/2012
I decided to make the non-alcoholic ginger beer. It has a really nice flavour but without the kick at the back of your throat. I normally drink Rochester non-alcoholic ginger, that stuff has a huge kick. So it was nice having a change. I really enjoy drinking a ice cold class on a sunny day, a real summer BBQ drink for the hole family to enjoy.
    Highly recommended
Will definitely buy this kit again

Exactly what I wanted out of a ginger beer.
    Review by Andrewon 04/07/2012
3 weeks to the day after starting this I had my first glass. Nice and fizzy, medium spice, very refreshing and the alcohol level was about right for a drink that goes down so easily.

If that is the kind of drink you are after then it is spot on. If you want something very spicy or knock your socks of alcohol wise you will have to experiment a bit. For me and my wife this drink was perfect.

    Real ginger beer!
    Review by Chrison 10/05/2012
I wish I had added more oxygen at the start to get a dryer finish, but that is my fault. Some more ginger fire too would be rather good, but I like hot curries, so again, can't argue with that in the mix. To cut to the taste this IS real ginger beer and leaves Crabbies and other shop bought alcoholic ginger beers in the dirt. Will definitely brew this again!

    Review by Betley Breweron 14/05/2011
Fantastic Brew for those long hot summer aftenoon BBQs.
Not too strong just a great relaxing drink.
Dead easy to make but may start experimenting with Chillies next time?!

    coppers ginger beer kit
    Review by skidmarkon 19/12/2010
Hi I've made coopers ginger beer 3 times now. and the best way to make this is to add 2 hand fulls of chopped dried chillys to about a 1kg of grated root ginger place in a large pan of water and simmer for 25 min let it cool and strain into your fermenter use this as part of your water to make 40 pints because you have added 2kg of sugar it should end up around 5.5 % leave to ferment for a week in bucket and then move into demijohns for 3 weeks it should clear in that time.after 3 weeks bottle and add carbonation drops leave for 3 days somewhere that worm and then move bottles somewhere cool for a further 4 weeks trust me it will taste awesome best served at room temp

    Review by Starkieon 30/07/2010
My first ever kit and after loads of worrying about it going wrong its turned out lovely.

The kit says to leave it in the barrel for 3 weeks after femermenting but the longer you leave it the better and better it gets.

Tastes alot like 'Franks' Ginger beer ,Epic chilled with ice

    Good Stuff
    Review by Marbleon 24/05/2010
But don't expect a "shop bought" product.

I made this (alcoholic version.... you get to choose) with normal sugar for family and friends, who all loved it.
I added to it with a tea of grated ginger and 3 or 4 chopped chillies. I'm not sure that either made much difference, but they loved it anyway.
    4 stars, 'cos I'm not a ginger fan ........................

try this kit & you wont be disapointed
    Review by roppaon 22/02/2010
made the alcoholic version of this kit with normal sugar, it was quick to ferment & took about 6 days. i put it into secondary fermentation for a week then barreled it, i tried a pint after a week and it was absolutely gorgeous. im leaving it for another few weeks before i drink this one. this kit is supposed to be cloudy when ready if you didnt already know, it had me worried until i checked up on a forum. i would highly reccomend this kit to any one!
