    Fantastic lager
    Review by Grahamon 08/04/2017
The European lager is as good Becks , grolsch , Stella and Heineken .if you use brew enhancer 2 and the coopers carbonation drops . I have the 500 ml swing top bottles so use one and a half CD,s . It really is as good as draught beer . I would recommend leaving it bottled for 30 days for best flavour .

    Great starter beer
    Review by Paulon 23/02/2016
I brewed this originally using brewing sugar and got a great crisp fresh lager after it had been left for about 3 months. As a previous review said it's similar to Becks but A bit sharper! Just about to do my second batch but going to use the recommended brew enhancer this time to see what the results are compared to brewing sugar. Hoping for a more rounded tasty brew.

    WOW
    Review by Jayon 22/10/2015
This one has been in the bottles for 8ish weeks now. I always get this one out to show off. All the local brewers I've spoken to do ales because "larger is hard to do". This is truly a bargain of a kit and the end result is on par with any larger you'd get in a shop or pub. I did use one and a half carbonation drops with this (and all my other largers) to give it a really crisp fizz and it's worked a treat.

    Basic is best
    Review by Travipooon 18/07/2014
I've done this again, this time with 1kg of basic granulated sugar and 180g of granulated sugar both Tate and Lyle. It tastes amazing and much better than when I used malt extract or even brew enhancer, just like a lager and really refreshing. It's only been in the bottle for two weeks and I put it in the fridge and it's great.

    Easy
    Review by Travipooon 15/05/2014
A really easy brew. I brewed this for two weeks at 18 degrees and it tasted great out of the fermentation bin! I've bottled it with a drop and a half carbonation drops and will wait to see if it improves. It's a true lager yeast, so it is a long, slow bottom feeding brew.

    Appears to be working!

first time for the Larger. Process was easy with the BE2 and it is bubbling away nicely at 15-16C. Gets great reviews so expectations are high.

    Nice batch
    Review by Jamieon 14/10/2013
Second time I've brewed this but with 1kg of extra light dme, saaz hop tea added and brewed short to 21L and with danstar notty yeast so it didn't have to be lagered. Put it in a cornie and forced it tastes good with a few bottles hiding for another time

    Very popular with the lads
    Review by Marcon 22/04/2013
First time brewing the european lager have tried just the standard lager before brewed using brew enhancer 2 and primed with 2 carbonation drops per bottle.Brewed in mid september for xmas had the full 12 weeks and what can i say a fantastic beer great tasting very similar to Becks as the subtle illistration on the can suggests. had the lads round for the evening and polished off a good 25 of the 40 bottles only complaint was a bit gassy on first opening then pouring but a steady hand and can pour in one go, maybe will use less to prime next time. Very impressed with quality from a one can kit gonna try the mexican lager next ready for summer

    Slow start
    Review by Jamieon 05/04/2013
Second lager brew to date used brew enhancer 2 but not the flava pack could of done with it I think but I'm not so sure if it will last 12 weeks maturing. Gotta brew at low temp for the full flavour mine wasn't but trial and error all part of the fun

    Great Brew
    Review by Whitieon 01/12/2012
First time of making this as i really am a cider head! Certainly not disappointed although tastes more like a golden pale ale than a lager.
Dead easy to brew, i did leave it in the fermentation bin for an extra week though. Will buy again.

    Fantastic
    Review by Stephenon 31/07/2012
I made this in January and duly left it for around 3 months before tasting.
    WOW!
I was amazed at how good it is. Not only me though, friends who tried it enjoyed it so much that they want to start brewing too.
I've ordered another, the only let down is the 3 months wait :-(
At least I have a barrel of ale to keep me going

    Incredible
    Review by Barrie on 20/04/2012
Been kit brewing ales for about a year now, done a couple of extract brews but don't want wifey to feel left out, so had a go at this Coopers European lager. Used Coopers Enhancer 2 as recommended, my brew room is quite cool (have to use heat pad for the ales I've done) but this one was happy to steadily bubble away at ave 14°C, took it about 3 1/2 weeks. Took a sample out to check final gravity just before bottling and WOW!!!! Even pre carbonation and conditioning this is the best lager I've ever tasted (admitted I only drink lager in survival situations like when abroad and no ales available, but as good as the likes of Becks, Amstel, Moretti). Wifey tasted some of FG sample and woofed the lot. There was a slight fizz or tongue tingle straight from the fermenter and absolutely crystal clear. It's been carbonating now for five days, PET bottles firmed up nicely and only the slightest haze of sediment perceptible. Got to lock it up now to keep wifey off it for the recommended 12 weeks. Def gonna brew again, works out less than half price of supermarket tinnies even when using the Enhancer 2 with the kit.

Agree with the last post - tastes just like Becks
    Review by Robon 27/11/2011
Bottled 01/10/2011 and already tasting very nice 7 weeks later. Can't wait until this reaches "full maturity".

Definitely much cleaner and nicer than my previous lagers (Cooper's Australian and Young's Lager), however this could be down to using Munton's beer kit enhancer instead of sugar:

    Fantastic!
    Review by Dj Mawon 29/08/2011
This is my second go at making lager and i have to say this is the one!! I also brewed this with the recommended 'flava pack' from brew uk, it ads extra hops and barley, you boil it up for 30mins and make a nice hop and barley tea!! wack into your brew before you pitch the yeast. i ended up putting too hot water in mine, but just stayed within 30degrees. Now its been about 8 weeks and OMG, it gets better and better!!

I highly recommend this with the 'flava pack' and brew enhancer 2 as this is what coopers recommend on the can, but you can use whatever you like and whatever you feel comfortable with.

I also highly recommend you watch CRAIG TUBE on youtube for advice and tips on enhancing your brew also if your a beginner like me!!

    enjoy!

    Fantastic
    Review by ruthon 07/06/2011
I'm not an experienced home brewer and this was my first go at lager so i have to say that the results were outstanding.

i used muntons beer enhancer rather than brewing sugar and just used a brewing bucket and then straight into 2ltr PET bottles - simple.

Fantastic lager. not only will i definitely make it again, but my father and brother in law are also going to give it a go!

    One year on...
    Review by Roosteron 08/09/2010
Its getting to that time of year when I think about what I will be drinking at christmas. Whilst looking through brewuk's website I thought I would hunt out a bottle of my european larger which is now one year old.
I'm drinking it while writing this review.
I wanted to make a becks substitute. My brew is very much like a becks thats been open for a couple of hours - fairly flat but becks taste!
I have fooled mates by saying it is becks and they were easily fooled by it. I made this batch 6.8% so its strong but doesn't taste it- just stops me drinking it all in one sitting.

When I do this years batch I will research the flatness issue and correct my quantities.

The taste has improved month my month.

Overall VERY nice larger, well impressed.
Looking forward to the next batch.

The best kit I've done so far....
    Review by Neiloson 01/05/2010
This kit is SO much better when Muntons brew enhancer is used instead of brewing sugar. Costs about £2.50 extra, but that works out at about 6p per pint. Be patient with the brew, I leave it in the FV for 3-5 days after fermentation has stopped and give it the full 12 weeks to condition (I personally bottle mine) and you won't be dissapointed!

Haven't brewed lager before, so did not know what to expect. would highly recommend this, within 2 weeks you have some very drinkable beer that tastes as good as what you pay big bucks for in the supermarket

    just like becks
    Review by Angieon 10/07/2009
Never made a larger before but thought we would give it a whirl. Wow, really nice. Did need a bit of time to mature but was well worth the wait. Highly recommended.
