    Makes a great pint!
    Review by Rolandon 02/03/2017
I have brewed this six times now and it never fails to produce an excellant Lager. Everyone who has tried it comments on its clarity and taste. I use the lawnmower recipe (available on the Coopers website, mid strength). 1x Lager kit and Coopers Brew Enhancer 1. It ferments well usually finishing within about 5-7 days and clears very well. I tend to leave it for a couple of months to mature, but it can be consumed sooner. Ideal first lager

    Real lager
    Review by Josephon 05/02/2017
My first homebrew ever. Very good result. Strong on taste and full of flavour. It was easy to brew it. I followed all the instruction on internet. I do believe that this beer is very good for beginners.

    Great tasting Lager.
    Review by Peter Kon 16/12/2016
I used this kit when living in Australia.I had good results then and the same now that I am in Greece.
Fermented really well,I used good quality spring water which improves the final taste, leaving the mixture in stainless steel brewing container for 10 -12 days then bottling. After 3 months maturing the flavor really improves as does the body, clearing is excellent with a great head and carbonation. No comparison to commercial beers.

    A good lager
    Review by Paulon 23/02/2016
I brewed this lager in November for my wife who is not a fan of my normal bitter and speciality beers I brew. It was easy to brew and has developed a good taste after been left for 3 months to mature. I used the recommended brew enhancer for the first time rather than brewing sugar. It has given it a good overall taste and a nice head. The lager itself is definitely recognisable as an Australian lager. I will definatley be brewing this again.

    Super clear and good value
    Review by Jonon 31/10/2013
I make this for myself and when my Aussie relatives are over as they don't drink proper beer unless chilled to tastelessness. That said it is a pleasant lager very good value and clears beautifully. I have also added dried Elderflower to my last brew to give it a hint of that lovely elderflower bouquet. I also use the coopers yeast with my Wherry.

So simple and great tasting beer in 6 weeks. Ideal for making your first lager

    One of the best!
    Review by Ghosthunteron 15/06/2013
Been brewing this for near on 25 years, moved on to mashing but keep coming back to this one as its soooo good. A little bit harsh in the first few weeks.......but the transformation at six weeks is incredible. You will not be disappointed with this kit. I recommend all new brewers try this kit. A great kit that has brought many a failed home brewer back to the clan!
You've probably gathered that I like this one.

    All round tasty beverage
    Review by Georgeon 22/05/2013
This was our first venture down the home brew path and i believe we certainly took the correct path. We bottled this into PET 500ml bottles using 3/4teaspoon of caster sugar for priming, the carbonation of the beer was excellent. Being students we certainly are not picky with taste but this definitely was tasty and only got better with time.

    Review by Leeon 14/04/2013
Not the greatest Larger I have tasted, will try it again in the future though so not all hope is lost.
Definitely tastes better than some that you get on tap especially those of the Dutch Court.

    gets much better with age
    Review by LFon 31/03/2013
Right, first off I'm really glad I waited a bit to write this review. First impressions were "its OK", hardly any head. Cheap lager, probably wouldn't brew again. However, its now been in the bottle for about 2 months and what a difference. Fantastic head, very pleasant flavour. Your mileage may vary with a keg, but in a bottle it's a really good brew AFTER a couple of months. Patience!

    The Best
    Review by MediaManon 26/03/2013
I've tried about 20 different lager kits and always come back to the Coopers Aussie. I generally make about 2 batches a week of this stuff, it's the best and most reliable and consistent in taste and quality. I also tried it with different variations on yeast, sugars and added hops etc; but every time I go back to the same bog standard recipe. 1KG granulated sugar, 1 can of Coopers, 24 lts water and the standard yeast that comes with it. Ferment for 7 days with a brew belt on, rack add Kwik Clear, 24 hrs later rack again and keg. 36 hrs in the corny @ 40psi. Enjoy a cool crisp lager at approx 4.3% ABV. It does improve with age, but with my mates it tends not to last long enough... ;-)

    Cheap, Easy and fast.
    Review by Neilon 04/12/2012
I make this more than any other kit,
7 days (give or take) to ferment,
force carbonate in a corney keg, and it's ready to drink in a couple of days,
but as others have said, the longer you leave it, the better it gets.

    Good kit
    Review by Chrison 13/11/2012
This was my first home brew so it may not be my best attempt, and I have nothing to compare to. This beer is very drinkable however, and I've paid £4 for worse in various pubs. As other reviewers say, it seems to be getting better with age too :o)

    Value for money.
    Review by Naga Headon 14/08/2012
Brewed this for the queens jubilee, 10 days in the fermentor then six weeks in the bottle, it was just pot luck with the timing after two weeks in the bottle it tasted like watered down larger. As each week went on it became more and more drinkable, neighbours loved it couldn'd beleive you could make larger that cheapand that tasty.
Trouble is all gone now, but have plenty of beer bottled and ready to drink.
Nomally brew the extract kits to avoid tinny taste but this lager didn't have any residue of beeing tinned, add it to another kit when ordering to keep the p&p price down.Oh and if you can leave it for six weeks you will be well rewarded.

    Very Nice
    Review by hoyseyon 19/06/2012
This was the first home brew I ever made and was well impressed with the results, a really nice lager that has a very moreish taste to it, the only down side is my wife loves it as well so it lasts even less time than I'd want it to.

Just ordered another 2 of these, and would highly recommend it to anyone :)

    A hit with the boys!
    Review by Rosson 18/06/2012
I used Coopers Australian for my first batch of beer. Left it in a nice warm corner and 7 days later it was ready for bottling! Before putting it into the bottles it was running at about 6% so pretty potent stuff! Never the less, a week later and the eager students were straight in there! 40 pints gone in one night! Its a definite hit, but does taste very nice if left to clear for about 3 weeks or more.

    Very impressed, good value kit
    Review by Jimon 16/06/2012
I fermented this kit for about 6 days and then barrelled it (as I did not have any bottles to hand). After 2 weeks, was not impressed, left it another 2 weeks and it was good, but the barrel kept getting stuck and I needed to continually add gas. Left along for another few weeks (so now at week 7) and it is fantastic, flying out the barrel, light, crystal clear, very well carbonated with great head retention in the glass!! Very compatible to Fosters, slightly sharp after taste after a few seconds, but by the time you are half way through your first pint you no longer notice it. Crackingly good value, but you really do need to be patient. Will definitely be doing this one again!

    Good kit
    Review by Mark Tayloron 21/05/2012
Another good kit from Coopers. Brewed with 500g of spray dry malt extract and 500g of brew enhancer. Half tsp of sugar in each bottle (may go 1 tsp next time for more fizz). Definately a light beer rather than a lager (down to the yeast) but it does smell like a lager.
Leave for at least 6 weeks in the bottle and serve nice and cold.

    Uber Good!
    Review by Blamongeon 12/02/2012
This was my first ever home brew. So simple to do and is really quick to get the end product, though you are best leaving it as long as possible for a better taste, but to be honest, I couldnt wait and totally lashed it... Lovely, tastes amazing, very fresh taste, crisp, just like any Australian lager, and gets you pissed too! Definately worth looking at Craig Tube on youtube as his videos are spot on and cover a bit of everything. He even tried this brew kit with brown sugar and got amazing results - but his videos give an excellent overview of what to do, and plenty of tips and hints too...

    Bottoms up!!!

    Best Coopers lager
    Review by Garreth Son 11/01/2012
I've made quite afew of the Coopers & Youngs largers and this is by far the best...

7-10 days to ferment, and then mine gets kegged into Corny's. After the first 2 weeks it's much like any other larger but if left for 3-4 weeks (Assuming you can wait that long) it's the best one on the market !

I generally brew a whole can at a time, and leave it in 4ltr water bottles to age. Putting these into a Corny then isn't an issue

    gone in 2 weeks
    Review by brewmarkIIon 08/11/2011
this was my first attempt at homebrewing after months of research, should i shouldnt i, an hours of "craigtube" - he's a real help.

The been came with everything i needed, clear instructions and they were easy to follow.

everything went well, left it for 7 days, then put it into 2ndFV which had my bottling wand - great gadget, saved time and no mess. left in the bottles for 2 weeks, tasted great, refreshing, full of flavour.

i used the carbonation drops that came with the kit and again they saved time and no mess. ( can you tell i dont like to clean up mess, ha!)

i gave loads out to family and friends because they'd all encouraged me to get into it, and obviousl wanted some free beer. i glugged about 20 bottles myself, in about 2 weeks 99% were gone, and towards the end of the 2nd week (4th week in the bottle) they were tasting nicer and nicer.

i left 4 bottles for a further 4 weeks and then opened them and the taste blew the first bottle opened out of the water. id recomend leaving it in the bottle at least 4 weeks before opening.

this is a light, skippy, dancing beer that actually has a great taste, nothing like the commercial lagers, much better.

go for it, especially during the summer

Wow Factor, with lots of fizz!!
    Review by djmawukon 17/05/2011
Well i must say that coopers micro brew kit is excellent value, you get everything besides sterilising solution, which you can get from wilko (they also have lots of beer and wine making gadgets). The beer you produce is fantastic, follow the instructions from "craig tube" and you will produce a fantastic home brew, do read all the instructions and watch the coopers DVD and this will make you confident to get cracking!!

As an absolute beginner i would highly recommend to anyone who wants to start making home brew to get the coopers micro brew kit as you get 95% of all the equipment needed.

Back to the beer itself (hick! drinking the beer as i write this) very light, slight bitter taste but friendly with a sweet, malty body to it, quite gassy but i'm going to leave it to mature for a few more weeks to see if the flavour gets better and hopefully less gassy... well i'm just adding my next lot to the basket and get brewing my next lot ;)

    Enjoy!!

    Nicer than Fosters!
    Review by pete-con 30/11/2010
This was my first venture in to the HB experience and I'm happy to report that the beer tastes goood! :-)
Very easy to use, this Aussie Lager kit produces a fine beer in my opinion and was very drinkable in a couple of weeks of being bottled. Made up with ordinary white sugar and Coopers carbonation drops, the fizzy level was just about right for me and the clarity about 95%.
I've always liked a can of Fosters but one of those immediately after some of my brew tastes awful, lol!
Definitely a great kit, ideal for the newbie brewer like myself.

    Review by Rodderson 08/09/2010
I used ordinary sugar for this and reduced it to 21 litres to fit in 40x500ml bottles, allowing 1litre for slops. The final result was exceptional. The instructons were easy to follow, although priming 40 bottles was time consuming. Well worth buying but I would recommend waiting 4 weeks instead of 2 for the conditioning

    Review by Boabie Gringoon 05/09/2010
1st try at HB. after 2 weeks was rotten after 4 weeks odd absolutely class!! very tasty & a great intro to HB will definitely brew again as a Mainstay with possibly a tweak or two. Going to do in 330ml glass bottles with the carbo drops that i don't use anymore(bulk prime now) to ensure good carbonation which like above is essential for this drop.
Good head & good crisp taste. ;-)

    Great starter kit!
    Review by Bullyon 22/07/2010
Great taste and smell but I was suprised at the after taste. My first brew and it was brilliant, a must buy and try. When you pour it into a glass to drink you may find it easier to use a filter to stop the sediment making it cloudy again and be careful with the bottles you use as some can't handle the fizz and become flat. I'm about to buy a bottle capper with tops to make it more efficient and convenient with easier sizes but mainly for general aesthetics!

    Unbeatable
    Review by Sailoron 02/05/2010
I've been brewing for a few years and this lager (although technicaly an ale) is fabulous provided you:

    a) Use a mix minimum mix of 50/50 of light malt and glucose as fermentables (or beer enhancer).

    b) Stick it in pint brown bottles with at least half a teaspoon of glucose in each bottle.. Any less glucose or a different sized vessel and you won't get the desired carboation. Simple as that.

I've brewed all grain lagers and they have been fabulous but this is up there with the best and it never goes wrong.. Provided it's fizzy enough- a sure fire success for your lager drinking buddies, better than even the best brands if you follow my advice.
    Cheers

    Review by Andy Coonon 20/07/2009
Excellent results from this kit, added 500g sugar+500g beer enhancer. Fermentation completed in 5 days - primed glass bottles with one teaspoon caster sugar, capped & left in shed. I always use a couple of clear plastic bottles to gauge hows its doing and this stuff had cleared in 1 week(without any finings!). Couldn't resist so tried a bottle-best tasting kit I've used. If you want to brew lager then this is the stuff to go for.
