    Love it!
    Review by Martinon 25/09/2017
This is indeed a cracking bit of kit, the quality is outstanding. This fermenter will last you a lifetime of brewing, so just go for it and get one! You'll be glad you did.

Well made, convenient and easy to clean
    Review by Philipon 01/06/2017
This is perfect for me. Easier to clean and use than the plastic kellermeister which it's replacing. I like how everything disassembles and reassembles so easily, including the valves, so you can thoroughly clean it each time. I use a heating belt and a separate temperature controller to manage fermentation temperature, which works well. If you bottle your beer, the big plus with conicals, of course, is that you can remove the trub, stir in priming sugar, leave to settle and then bottle, all using the one vessel.

The Ss BrewTech Chronicle is a thing of beauty, works very well and will last forever.
Review by The SAS Breweron 06/10/2016
    Beautiful

For starters, the Ss BrewTech Chronical fermenting vessel is beautiful, both to look at and how it is made. The high quality stainless steel is very easy to clean and fermenting in one of these will greatly reduce the chances of picking up unwanted, very small guests.

    Just Like the Big Boys

The fermenter closely resembles a large-scale commercial FV, which can only be a good thing. The angle of the cone is perfect for trub and break removal and for final yeast harvest. The overall dimensions also encourage currents and mixing within the fermenting wort, that leads to rapid and consistent fermentation; assuming your yeast management is up to scratch.

The lid, though not intended for pressurisation, is a snug fit with an outlet that fits either a trap or, using the tri-clamp fitting, a blow-off pipe. I use the latter and bubble into a tub of StarSan. Again, very hygienic.

There is a very useful thermo-well for a thermometer and little thermometer, (not included), sits in it. I only use it with the SS BrewTech thermometer during filling and then I substitute the thermometer from my temperature controller for optimal fermentation control. This is great way of monitoring temperature hygienically and without waste.

    Could be even better

The more expensive version of this fermenter has the hygienic butterfly valves. This model has ball valves and these DO have to be fully stripped after each use and cleaned before assembly and full FV cleaning. If you don't do this, you will get infection and the Chronicle instructions do clearly point this out. Personally, I'd like to see a half-way-house between this model and the top of the range, that would have the butterfly valves, but no cooling coils. The review model has two valves: a smaller for racking and a larger dump valve. The former also works well enough for sampling. Incidentally, the more expensive model's additional sampling valve is a ball valve....

The fermenter fits very nicely into a tall, but otherwise standard larder fridge.

    Finishing touches

The final lovely touches come with the packaging. The white box the Chronicle came in has a schematic diagram of the vessel on it. I cut this out and stuck it on the fermenting chamber door. It looks very cool. You also get 2 great beer mats. It sort of oozes a love of brewing and is nice to be a part of.

    Cost versus benefits

OK. It does costs a few bob more than a plastic bucket, but for cleanliness, functionality, durability and looks, it is well worth it.

If you're planning more than one fermenter, you may consider the more expensive model, with the internal cooling. But then you'll also need some method of temperature control that is more complex and expensive than a chamber/fridge.

If you are serious about home-brewing, I highly recommend this fermenting vessel.

    Worth the investment
    Review by Garyon 27/08/2016
This is brilliant. You can tell it's well made as soon as you get it out of the box, everything fits together perfectly and nothing difficult about getting it started.
I cleaned it as per the instructions but passivated it with citric acid as opposed to star San as the concentration it wanted would cost a bomb here in the uk!!
Once all cleaned, prepped and steralised I've filled it with some wine to start things off but am looking forward to using in conjunction with my Grainfather to get some beers going soon.
Looks like it's going to be easy to clean afterwards, and a step up from my previous conical fastferment (which itself was pretty good!).
Fits nicely in my fermentation fridge and got a heat belt wrapped around it incase it gets to cold (though in the current weather that's highly unlikely!!!).
Great service from BrewUk as usual.

    Great Investment
    Review by Michaelon 02/08/2016
This has to be the one to get. Really well built and of a convenient size for 5 gallon (or less) batches.
I thought this was almost too self indulgent at the price but when it arrived, I was convinced.
What a time saver, primary and secondary fermentation all in one vessel with no racking in between. Trub dump is simple as is yeast collection. Save and wash your yeast for another brew.
Food grade stainless steel makes it easy to clean and sanitise. All fittings use tri-clamps for a quick dismantle and clean.. Thermowell provides an accurate method of temperature measurement.
It's expensive in some ways but also very good value for money and a real step up in my brewing equipment.
