A great wine at a reasonable price
    Review by Martinon 14/08/2017
Tried all the red Cellar 7 wines now. The Rojo was ok but a bit "thin", the Shiraz was better and on a par with the Merlot. But our favourite is just the Merlot over the Shiraz. Around 12 - 12.5% ABV and perfectly drinkable at around £1 per bottle. So simple to achieve a good end product. What's not to like!

    Not Bad
    Review by Michaelon 07/07/2016
This is the first time i have ever done wine of any kind. While the instructions were simple enough to follow i have found the end product to be 'OK'. Not sure if something has happened along the way or if im expecting too much. It's currently bottled and will age it for a few months. I gave this 4 stars on the basis that Brew UK delivered the product promptly and had no issues.

    Good kit
    Review by Matton 17/05/2016
Being my first attempt at a wine kit i was a bit skeptical on the results, but thought i would give it a go on the basis of the good reviews here.

Well, i wasn't disappointed. The process was very easy, no more difficult than a beer kit. The resulting wine, even after a couple of weeks tasted decent. Although not to my taste because it is quite fruity and i enjoy a more full bodied wine.
I purposefully made it short to help with this, but think i just raised the abv as it seems a little strong. Not a problem there!! :)

I have just placed a second order, but this time also included some oak chips hoping this will help with the stronger, more bodied taste.

All in all a thumbs up from me! Cheers!

    First time
    Review by Delboyon 01/09/2015
This is the first time I have tried this Kit.
It was so easy to follow and the resulting wine was full bodied and just as good aas any that i have brought before.
I only got 26 bottles and not the thirty But i was probably short at the start.
Iether way I am more that satisfied with resulting wine.

    Red wine wif
    Review by Roysteron 08/05/2013
Hi,I've been making cellar seven wines for about a year now, although I did try a 28 day wine once but found that moving the wine from one barrel to another and messing about with oak chips wasn't for me. I have stuck with cellar seven whites and reds and have found that adding one orange and a lemon cut up and put into the white wine during fermentation gave it a nice citrus flavour. I would love to get a nice aroma from my red wines just to sicken my neighbour who's a wine snob, personally I Don't have a problem but I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get rid off the chemical smell from the reds. I did read a review that said they had added 3 litres of concentrated waitrose blackberry juice to the cab Sauvignon and it seemed to make a difference. Appreciate any tips.

A good kit for the price but
    Review by Tonyon 11/03/2012
The alcohol level is only 10%. This can be boosted to a more typical merlot by reducing the amount of water added. 20 litres total would bring up the alcohool to 11%. I estimate that the proportion of grape juice is about 60%. Using less water increases this, and would also improve its storage life. Adding oak chips is worthwhile too if, like most people, you don't have an oak barrel to mature it in. Degassing is most important. The easiest most efficient way to do this is with a paint stirrer attatched to an electric drill. This makes the fining quicker and more effective, and makes filtering unneccessary. Leave for at least 2 weeks before tasting, preferably longer.

    Great for a kit
    Review by MarkyMarkon 24/08/2011
I have found other wine kits dissapointing so was a a bit sceptical about trying another kit. But after reading the reviews for these kits I decided to take a chance on the Merlot. Glad I did as I was pleasntly surprised at the result.
The wine was smooth, cleared well and had a nice flavour. Although the first few bottles we drunk had a bit of a chemical aftertaste, this subsides if you leave the bottles longer before drinking.

The rest of the supply is about half way through now and have been in the bottle for about two months so far. As this wine improves with age I know whats left will be even better. If only I can keep my wife from drinking them so quickly.

    Review by mrs whiteon 26/03/2010
I'm very pleased to offer my feedback on what I consider a very decent wine.

It was indeed ready in 7 days and was very drinkable. For the more discerning patient wine drinker it will benefit and improve every day as I have discovered.
