Time to ditch the bucket fermenters!
    Review by Dave Fon 26/04/2017
Bought this fermenter after having grown tired of the usual questions.. has it started, has it stopped, is it leaking etc.

Best decision I've made in purchasing this fermenter. While a Stainless steel conical is the stuff of dreams, this is a serious upgrade from a standard bucket and bubbler.

The 30 Ltr size means 23 ltr Batch has loads of room for a vigorous fermentation without going over, and the HUGE bubble lock works fantastically.

The side tap makes sampling for SG readings a breeze and the whole thing fits comfortably into my converted single fridge fermentation chamber.

The ONLY downsides I can put are the lack of Level markings (I have just made waterproof labels of my own to stick on) and That the Tap is a little high on the side of the fermenter so needs tipping to get the last few litres out but thats just being picky.

Fast delivery, well packaged and no issues from Brew UK. Happy to recommend :)

    Quality FV
    Review by Ianon 10/03/2017
Most impressed with this primary FV. I really like the lid and the way it seals and the fitting of the airlock. So far it appears quite airtight. Nice size for handling when full and easy to clean inside. Highly recommended.

    An excellent bit of kit
    Review by Martinon 03/02/2017
I bought this fermenter because of the good reviews. I was not disappointed. It is very good quality, strong, robust and airtight. I think if I had any comment at all it would be about the airlock, towards the end of the fermentation is is very difficult to see if indeed it is still fermenting. The airlock is made from the same high quality material but because it is very opaque you cant see very much through it.

On the whole though I would highly recommend it.

    Highly recommended!
    Review by Danon 01/01/2017
I bought two of these when I got a fermentation fridge as they are not as tall as most other fermenters which meant I could have two brews in the fridge at the same time. I'm very happy with them. Great build quality and the tap is at a perfect level to take hydrometer samples while minimising infection risk and avoiding getting any trub in the sample. The wide opening makes cleaning and sanitising very straightforward. They have an insert that fits closely and air tight with the hole for the (included) airlock and then a separate ring that screws on. You get a solid cap as well as one with an airlock hole so you can seal it tight and shake to aerate your wort before pitching your yeast. Can't recommend these enough, the cost may seem a bit high for a plastic fermenter but it is well worth it!

So much better than all the other fermenters

Actually seals airtight! You don't realise what a difference this can make.

    well pleased
    Review by Stevenon 27/09/2016
Got fed up with never knowing whether fermentation had started/stopped with the lids on my buckets leaking
This is a solid piece of kit complete with accessories
A two piece cap with nice wide lid and gasket and screw down ring
A tap or bung as you prefer
A drilled cap and large pot type trap or a plain cap
The vessel is low and wide and very stable
Indented handles make it as easy as possible when carrying 28L
Very glad that I had for my last brew where fermentation was so vigorous it blew through the trap. This would definitely have blown the lid off a bucket creating a big mess and upsetting the Assistant Brewer!
    Highly recommended

    Perfect piece of equipment
    Review by Mikeon 02/08/2016
The other FVs do their job, but the Brupacks 30litre fermenter goes that extra yard. It is robust, solid finger grips for lifting/carrying, a lid that really seals and a securing ring that tightens around the outside of the sealed lid to ensure it stays that way. The item comes complete with tap and stopper/seal combination. I didn't really know I needed it until I received it from BrewUK.

    Good piece of kit
    Review by Rogeron 08/03/2016
I particularly like the wide access for cleaning, the secure lid and the large size airlock. Tap a little high, works with a bit of tilting is fine. I can get 2 in my fermentation fridge with ease. Very happy.

    Must have product
    Review by Paulon 08/08/2015
Bought after seeing Greg using on AG course. Far better than my bucket which I started with. Compact size fits in fridge better, larger bubbler is excellent idea along side screw down lid for assured air tight fit. Oh yes, also give 5 litres more capacity! Get one simples.

    Overall Great
    Review by Gordonon 26/05/2015
Very robust, good shape and size. Tap in the right place for drawing beer off, you can pour most of it out crystal clear without having to disturb the muck that's settled in the bottom. By the time the liquid is low a gentle tip sees the rest out with minimal disturbance.

Good seals, and the top with separate locking ring makes for easy cleaning. The airlock supplied seems to work fine and the screw cap supplied great for sealing it to agitate the yeast or when cleaning. Easy to move around with the moulded handles. Fits in my fermenting fridge perfectly.

One improvement would be to make the area on the inside, where the tap is, more accessible for cleaning, or make the drain tap a single hole/tube through the fermenter wall. The odd gap that is there now is a perfect trap for debris and muck that could spoil your next brew. I'd advise careful cleaning in that area.

Great shape and lid system, solidly made.
    Review by Jameson 01/12/2013
Good sturdy construction and the lid system makes cleaning so much easier. The shorter fatter shape makes it easier to fit in and less obtrusive on a countertop. Now I'm planning a 60ltr!

I don't use the tap and it comes with a blanking plug which is useful.

My only gripe is the jointing. I had to trim surplus material from around the tap port to make it smoother and easier to sanitise.
The joint between the neck and lid is roughly made and has crevices that are very difficult to clean. BrewUK were very good and exchanged it for me but the next was just the same so I assume it is a fault is in the production process. I hope this is not a sanitisation risk, I haven't had a problem so far but it is a niggle.

Very happy with it overall, more are on the horizon.

Considering the price I would have thought there would have bee some markings indicating level of contents. Other than that it seems good quality.

    Excellent product.
    Review by MBon 30/05/2013
This is a very good fermenting barrel and at a reasonable price. The locking system is easy to use and the built in handles make shifting it a simple job. I would only use the tap to draw off samples so its' position is irrelevant. Highly recommended.

    Pretty good so far
    Review by Naichon 28/05/2013
I needed a wide, short fermenter to fit into a fridge for temperature control. The lid and locking ring are nice and easy to fit and remove but not water or air tight - I got a bit wet when I started shaking the steralising solution around inside!

Excellent, practical, design and good results.
    Review by Nick Son 18/10/2012
This is an excellent fermenter and if you've got the cash I'd definitely recommend one. I use it mostly as a secondary fv because it seals hermetically to keep the bugs out. The wide and shallow design means beer clears faster too (less distance for stuff to fall).

The tap fitting is part way up because it's mostly for drawing off samples to check gravity rather than for emptying, although I've never used the supplied tap because I use a 'thief' for checking gravity instead (which fits neatly through the airlock hole), and empty it by siphoning.

Although big, it fits in my kitchen sink, and because all the bits and pieces (lid, seal, airlock fittings) can fit inside it cleaning is a doddle. OK - the outer, screw down, sealing lid doesn't fit inside, but it doesn't come in contact with the contents so doesn't need as strict sanitation.

Highly recommended and most importantly, good beer has come out of mine!

    Not Bad
    Review by Nick Won 27/04/2012
I too was confused when i saw the tap so high up, but when you want to empty, just tilt it, all the beer will come out. Making a simple wooden cradle that hinges makes this really easy and elimanates the need to syphoning. Be carful of setting the tap too low as it might be full of yeast when you come to empty.

Good but could be a great design
    Review by Nigel Anthonyon 16/04/2012
The third brew with this fermenter. The inset handles make it easier to move plus the big lid is nice for cleaning. As others have found the tap is too high up the side so don't use it, shame.

    Review by Darrinon 13/03/2012
Great quality, sturdy fermenter with a sealed screw top lid which produces a better gas tight seal than many others I've used
Costs a few quid more but well worth it, much so I’ve just ordered another 10/10

    Good but flawed
    Review by farleymanon 10/03/2012
Good shape and nice materials. Well thought out lid system makes it easy to seal. The big letdown is the tap. The housing is nasty on the inside and the tap too high. On a 25 ltr. brew you don`t want a quarter of it below the tap. Luckily it comes with a blanking plug. It`s easy to fit another tap lower down but should you have to?
Well priced at brewuk but can be overpriced elswhere.
Possibly 4 stars when you have the tap in the right place.

Give this a try before forking out on a conical.

    cheers farleyman

    Review by Stevie Bon 26/03/2010
These are great fermenters. Compact, easy to carry and have a great locking lid which is great if you have curious nippers around as its virtually child proof.

Another is on my B'day wish list!

    Great fermenter
    Review by James Ton 29/10/2009
These are cracking fermenters, real quality kit as you would expect with brupaks. Well worth the pennies and nice and compact so easy to tuck away in the house. They may be a bit more expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

A Xmas present from the other half perhaps???
