The Fermentasaurus is the world’s first conical PET fermenter that is pressurisable up to 2.4 Bar working pressure. This new model of fermenter has only been possible to manufacture using a highly specialized PET grade and a new type of PET injection/blow moulding machine that has been commissioned in Springvale, Victoria, Australia. This Australian made product will change the way home brew is made and greatly simplify the home brewing process. Home brewers can see the yeast in action as the Fermentasaurus is crystal clear. You can dump yeast from the conical shape and clarify the beer without the need to rack off into another vessel. In the past clarifying beer meant racking from one fermenter to another increasing the risks of infection and oxidation. Don’t waste time and put your beer at risk; now you can ferment, clarify and carbonate in one vessel. The Fermentasaurus comes with a yeast 500ml harvesting container that is also pressure rated. The yeast harvesting container is ideal so you can save your yeast from one brew and pitch it into the next brew. The breakthrough in this new design means that customers can finally naturally carbonate their clear conditioned beer in the Fermentasaurus and dispense directly to tap. No need to carbonate beer in the keg or bottle. You can drink directly from the Fermentasaurus saving time and hassle. The Fermentasaurus has been designed with a sanitary butterfly valve with stainless gate. This butterfly valve has been designed so that no threads are immersed in liquid when the Fermentasaurus is in use. Many fermenters on the market use ball valves which are notoriously difficult to sanitise as the ball valve assemblies have small cavities in them that fill with liquid and are near impossible to clean without disassembly. With the optional pressure kit you can pressurise the vessel up to 35psi to allow you to carbonate and dispense direclty from vessel like a keg! Alternatively you can transfer under pressure to stainless kegs with practically no exposure to oxygen. Features: - 9.25G/35L total volume - Clear and easy to see through - Screw top lid with airlock - Butterfly dump valve - 500 ml collection ball below dump valve - 304 stainless steel frame with carrying handles - Volume marker sticker down side of tank - Stick on liquid crystal thermometer - Includes barb for bottle filling from bottom dump that accommodates 3/8" or 1/2" tubing - Rated for 2.4 Bar (34.8 psi) working pressure when used with optional pressure kit (Do not pressurize the Fermentasaurus without the pressure kit) Dimensions: - Total height with airlock - 955mm - Total diameter - 378mm - Tank height - 688mm - Tank diameter - 342mm - Top opening diameter - 82mm

Interesting and useful, but not without some problems

I have now completed 5 brews in my Fermentasaurus since purchase earlier this year. I got the full pressure kit, tap & a spunding valve.

Good points. Absolutely fascinating to see how the yeast grows as the brew progresses. You can drop the yeast etc from the bottom of the vessel. Fermenting under pressure is interesting - not sure exactly what the science is behind it - views differ in the web, but it does ensure you exclude oxygen, especially if you release excess pressure to purge the gas space. After fermentation, dry hopping is easy (I drop in the hops in a SS mesh basket) and again you can purge O2 afterwards. It does make the whole process more 'serious'.

Not so good. Took some effort to make the spunding valve fully gas tight - I lost most gas on the first brew - not the FV fault but worth bearing in mind. The gas tight seal on the lid is narrow and is also susceptible to gas leaks - you need to listen for the slight hiss. The lid opening is narrow, so I need to request help from someone with a small hand to help clean out the vessel. The butterfly valve is quite narrow, and can block with trub, and it leaks under pressure (drip every 5 secs) so you must have the bottle in when the vessel is under pressure. Related to this, it is worth getting some spare bottles (BUK do not sell these yet, but they are available). Final point is using the pressure system is great, but you are led down the path of wanting (needing) an auxiliary CO2 system, gas bottles, Corny kegs etc which starts getting expensive!

Is it worth it? I still think so, if for no other reason that it means I can leave a brew in the vessel for much longer before packaging (or even sneaky drinking direct from the FV) without fear of it going off.

    So Easy

The Fermentasaurus is so easy to use. You can clearly see how your brew is progressing. Being able to drop the trub is a great benefit to producing beer with better clarity. On my first brew I went straight from fermenter to bottles without the need for secondary. A great system.
