Does what it says on the label
    Review by Multi Bobon 31/05/2016
Works great and once you get used to your ambient temps and fermenting temps you can get good temp control. I'd highly recommend using this with something like the STC-1000 temperature controller (they are cheap and with a bit of wiring a couple of single socket extension cords and a plug you can wire an effective controller that will keep your fermenter or fridge exactly where you want it)

    Review by Andyon 26/02/2016
Very pleased, it does what it says. Easy to fit around the barrel & move up or down to adjust the heating. You will of course also need a thermometer to check the temperature is correct. Overall very pleased and I would recommend this.

So simple to use, just wrap the belt around the brewing barrel & pull to tighten as required. Easy to set at different heights to adjust the heat generated in the beer. You will need a thermometer as well to check the temperature - unless you want to guess :-).
    Overall very pleased, would recommend.

    A must have!
    Review by Leson 14/12/2015
I had been thinking about purchasing something for some time to give me better temperature control over the fermentation process, especially during the colder winter months, and I finally bit the bullet and bought this product. I have to say I wish I had bought it earlier. It's very simple to use, you just place it around your fermentation vessel and the temperature achieved is in accordance with the height placed on the vessel. Well worth it my opinion.

Easy to regulate the temperature by moving the belt up or down the vessel. Has come into its own now the utility room where my brew sits is much cooler.

    Size and wiring.
    Review by MARKon 20/02/2015
Sized for a 5 gallon container, could be fitted round 2 off 1 gallon vessels also so versatile. I combined this with a temperature controller (STC-1000) so had to rewire the plug to this, noticed that it doesn't have an earth wire which might put people off using it for this purpose but you have to be sensible and practical with what you want.

Without altering, it works a treat, height on the vessel is used to control the temperature transferred from the constant heated belt.

Essential piece of kit for cold room fermenting
    Review by Nickon 26/01/2014
I ferment my beer in a cellar sad was wrestling between this and the Electrim 75 Immersion heater. Although the immersion heater won out, I didn't realise it wouldn't fit through the small hole drilled in the lid of my fermenting bucket. In the end, I ordered this.

There's a lot of debate about using brew bets online so here's the low down...

This is an excellent piece of equipment for fermenting in a cold cellar or garage. As a product, I would have given it 5 stars but I can see the rubber hole which the wire goes through to tighten the belt getting worn out in time.

As for its usefulness, it has been invaluable.

Make sure you after you've pitched your yeast that you're around throughout the day on the first time you use it. I left my belt on constantly about an inch from the bottom thinking the belt wasn't very hot and when I came home several hours later, by beer was 24c.

As the yeast kicks in, you need to make sure you keep an eye on the temperature, as yeast generates its own heat. Having that heat and the belt heat combined will kick out too much heat and create off flavours.

The higher you raise your belt, the lower the temperature.

So here's what I recommend. Buy a plug with a 24 hour timer (with the little pins), place your belt around 4/5 inches from the bottom, and have the timer go on for and hour and off for an hour throughout the 24 hour cycle. With that and keeping an eye on your beer, adjusting the height of the belt where needed, you'll be able to regulate the temperature effectively.

Does the trick, a little too well!
    Review by Matthewon 05/12/2013
Great product, gets warm very quickly and evenly distributes the heat throughout the fluid with little to no fuss.

This will work brilliantly if you have a typically very cold or draughty house or merely wish to brew your beer out of sight (i.e. a cold garage) as it does tend to raise the temperature significantly above that of room temperature. This can be a problem as most homebrew kits these days are designed to ferment at room temperature and not at the 24 - 25 degree temperatures this provides.

    Very effective
    Review by Oliveron 20/11/2013
The brew belt works to keep your brews temperature up. I use them for wine brewing to keep the temperature between 22 and 24 degrees. Unfortunately they have no thermostat and so when they are plugged in they just keep heating. You can control this somewhat by moving the belt up and down the fermentor. If like me you want to just set it and leave it, I use a digital timer to switch it on and off. Seems to work just fine!

If your fermentor is a 25L like mine make sure you've wrapped the belt around tight enough of when it turns on it'll fall down/off.

Great start - a superb beer after a few tense days.
    Review by Richwicon 24/06/2013
Bought with a st peters ruby kit for use in the garage.

First brew so quite a learning curve.
Modified the belt by adding a thermostatic controller off eBay for £12
Started at 25C but by Saturday morning temperature at 14C so worried it was dead. Wrapped in potato sacks and temp climbed steadily to the set temp of 25 where it sat for a few days until I reduced it further.
Just done another batch with a better cloth "blanket" and the temp sat solid around the 18C for the whole week.

4 stars as it needs the blanket to help and a built in thermostat would be even better.
    The beer itself was superb!

    Virgin Brewer
    Review by Mick Con 15/06/2013
Literally just bottled my first brew this morning. The whole process went without a hitch, can't wait to try the end product. Being an ale drinker and purchasing the Mexican Lager a have bottled some of the beer without carbonating, some with just on and the rest as recommended, fingers crossed. I only given 4 stars because I haven't tasted the beer yet.

    Review by Jameson 10/06/2013
I've been using mine for 18 months non stop, for beers cider and wine making. The only tip I would give when using is to use a little bit of blue tac to hold it in place (so not to pull the wire too tight). When it's very cold (my brews bin lives in the garage) place it lower on the bin for a higher temp.

Excellent for brewing in a cellar
    Review by Andrewon 20/03/2013
I brew in my cellar (a constant 13 degC) so some form of heater for my fermentation vessel is necessary. After one brew, this seem to do the job nicely. Fits well around my bucket. Took a little while to warm up, but once at temperature the brew belt easily maintains the temperature at about 22 degC. For those brewing in a cellar / in cool places this is a pretty useful extra piece of equipment at a reasonable price.

    Review by Matton 12/02/2013
My house is freezing during the winter months, and this was a great investment. Absolute bargain in my eyes! I will say though that it fits around narrower vessels a bit better, it tends to slip down my stouter 25L bin a little

I bought this brewbelt to help me regulate the temperature of my brew. I cant afford to have the central heating on all day, so the brewbelt is essantial. I have it on a timer 2 hours on 1 hour off, for the duration of the fermentation process.

    It works!

The brew belt is part of my son's christmas present to go with the micro brewery I purchased a little while ago. He has not used the equipment yet but I am sure that he will be happily brewing on boxing day.

Brew UK provided very prompt delivery and a great service all round!

    Necessary
    Review by Michaelon 03/12/2012
When buying a brew belt you must buy a stick on temperature reading as the belt has no controls therefore no way of knowing what temperature the beer is at.
On winter nights when the house rads are off it gets quite cold inside compared to the day so you need to monitor the temperature of the beer and the position of the brew belt appropriately to keep the temperature stable.
I am looking at the temperature about four times a day which is a bit of a hassle but without the brew belt the beer would not ferment properly.
A thermostatically controlled heater is a bit dearer but a better investment. It will be my next purchase

    Does what it says
    Review by Oggieon 05/11/2012
After a long practice run on water only, it works very well. Those who say it comes apart during tightening must be misusing it. If used carefully and respectfully, like all electrical equipment should be, it's functional and fine.

It works, but it's poorly designed.
    Review by Sqiffyon 09/01/2012
I bought three of these and they all suffer the same problem. After one or two uses the glue which secures the black cap over the wire insulation comes away and after that every time you try you tighten the belt around a vessel the heating element wires become exposed. If you try not to tighten the belt too much it will drop around the base of the vessel within the hour. This belt is really badly designed, especially as it is made by Youngs and costs over twenty quid.

I wold always go for a 'Better Belt', roughly the same price and better design.

    Belt beats pad
    Review by Sonsieboyon 12/03/2011
I bought one thinking it to be inferior to a heat pad because of the cheaper price. Wrong. I brew in the garage all year round and in the winter need help with temperature. The pad temperature range is fixed, but you can adjust the belt by moving it up or down the F/V to give the temperature best suited to whatever you are brewing. Also good for kick starting secondary fermentation in pressure barrels. Heating pads, once your barrel or F/V is on it is pretty much stuck until the process is over. The brew belt can be moved without disturbing the brew.

Good product BUT Badly fitted plug.
    Review by Martinon 07/01/2011
I used this once, with excellent results. However when using for the second time it failed to heat up, I thought to check the fuse and discovered that live wire was loose and had fallen out of the terminal. Easily fixed but obviously a safety risk on any item, never mind one that is in use 24 hours a day.
