    Excellent again
    Review by Tonyon 01/08/2017
Last time I just threw the chips into the fermenter, which made syphoning the beer out a little hard when getting towards the bottom.

This time they were put in a sack which made this easier.

There was no difference to the taste - it was just as strong.

Used these in a dark German beer from the BrewDog recipe book (U-Boat) and what a fantastic addition it was.

Steamed for 10 minutes before adding them to the fermenter when I transferred the batch from the initial brewing bucket (one week after the brew)

The taste was amazing and will definitely be doing it in the next few months. It would be a perfect Christmas beer if you can get it brewed soon.

Nice toasted oak and vanilla flavour.
    Review by Jonon 24/11/2015
Used these in a batch of beer, 40g in 10L of Imperial Stout. Added them to the fermenter after one week. Steamed them before using.

The chips smell lovely, loads of dark toasted oak and vanilla. At 40g/10L it was fairly subtle in the finished beer but certainly added an extra dimension. Very happy with this. Perhaps using more than 40g would have been even better!

Something a bit extra for a porter
    Review by kevinon 20/05/2015
After a two or three attempts at kit brewing I decided to try adding a few bits and pieces. I had read that chips were one way to change the flavor but was a little skeptical about adding them straight in and clogging my basic equipment. I decided to add them the in a 'parcel' which would keep them contained. For this I used a pair of tights (thus buying one cheap pair gives you two attempts). I'm not sure if this might have lessened the effect but it definitely made them easier to get out. I tried the chips with a kit I have already tried and there was definitely a different task to the beer. It was a little more subtle than I expected but I only used the 100 pack and it was contained in a 'chippings parcel'. Worth trying though as it definitely changed the flavor. I used in conjunction with a extra deep spraymalt.
