Details:

The American Mocha Porter is a modern take on the traditional Stouts and Porters, popular in Britain since the 1700’s. When the American Craft Beer movement started in late 1970’s, innovative brewers were looking for new styles to create, so radical re-vamps and amalgamations of the old classics from their brewing forefathers seemed like an obvious place to start.

This beer brings together, insuitably dramatic style, the best of two classic styles the Coffee Porter and Chocolate Stout.
Our American Mocha Porter looks the part, pouring a dark Chocolate with a big white fluffy head. With bags of Coffee and Chocolate essence reinforcing and magnifying the natural rich and roasty character of the malts, this beer flaunts a wonderfully intense aroma of Coffee and Chocolate which explodes from the glass. The flavour is amazingly complex, with the heavenly seductive pairing of Coffee and Chocolate linking perfectly, with the natural Porter character. A beer that is sure to delight dark beer lovers, Coffee addicts and Chocoholics alike.

The perfect balance of two styles.
    Review by lawrenceon 12/11/2017
This has to be the hands down best kit that we regularly brew the other being the missus favourite Razorback IPA. The balance of flavour and styles (Porter/Milk Stout) is sublime and absolutely perfect around Christmas time, so good in fact we have to brew this every year for the father in law.

I have now brewed this long and also short and say that the short is much more powerful almost like Russian imperial stout, my advice would be to go slightly short to dial up the flavour without making it have a syrupy mouth feel or leave it bang on the recommended water volumes.

A really good brew - definitely worth doing again.
    Review by Chrison 02/05/2017
Having only recently discovered chocolate and coffee porters (Brew Dog, Fuller's, Young's, Bateman's), I though I'd give one a go myself. The kit was very straightforward, with clear instructions. The brew took a fair while to reach a stable final gravity (2-3 weeks) but it was definitely worthwhile. I inadvertently added a little too much water, but this has resulted in a not too strong 4.8%, which I like. After conditioning in the bottle for 4 weeks, I have been treated to a very pleasant porter with very little yeast residue. The final ale has a nice mouth feel and isn't overly flavoured with either chocolate or coffee and is very similar to Fuller's London Porter in this respect. It has a nice brown head, but isn't too lively if the recommended amount of priming sugar is added. For me, it is best served cool from the cellar or with a 20-30 minute chill in the fridge. I'll certainly be revisiting this kit again.
