Young's developed the American range to bring the best of American craft brewing to the UK. The approach is simply based on the same philosophy as the American craft brewing industry; only the best and freshest ingredients are used not sacrificing quality over cost. What really sets this range apart is the use of specially selected yeasts including US West Coast Ale dried yeast sourced from an American craft brewery and Newcastle Dark Ale yeast. All used to bring out the wonderful flavoursome liquid malt extracts with progressive style hops - skillfully combined to bring you a truly inspired range of premium quality American craft beer kits.

    Luvly...
    Review by Grahamon 28/01/2018
My first attempt at home brewing for many years. At first it tasted too hoppish but 6 weeks after kegging, it cleared, the hop flavour mellowed slightly - and is delicious. My wife, who is usually very fussy over hops flavour, now keeps helping herself! Onto the next brew!

    Tasty !!
    Review by Chrison 14/07/2017
This was my first attempt at homebrew and I have to say it was a roaring success.
I absolutely loved it and everybody else (well...those who I deemed worthy enough to share it with) was impressed with it too.
My dad is a bitter drinker and 'likes a good pint' - not a 'beer snob', more 'discerning', so I cave him the old Pepsi challenge with this and a Punk IPA....and he chose the homebrew !!!
Personally, I'm the other way, nice as it was I'm still with Punk as my poison of choice, but a thumbs up from my dad is something these lads should put on the box !
I don't know exactly how strong it was - my first attempt - too excited - not sure what I was doing - forgot to take the OhGee - but it was potent !
Strong as it was though, it was dangerously easy to sup ! Got me absolutely ruined one sunny afternoon.
I'll be getting this one again.

    worth it
    Review by Martin Garyon 20/02/2017
This is the 3rd brew & each one has been great, clears well, tastes exceptional but is strong {mine worked out to 7.5%} Kegged & left for 6 weeks but drank & enjoyed before next batch was ready
One minor problem I found is the time fermentation takes, after about 8 days it slows right down as if finished but hydrometer shows 1020 approx. & over the next 3-31/2 weeks drops to about 1005 & stops All batches have been the same so assume this is normal. A very good brew & worth the effort

    Oh yes!
    Review by Chrison 15/01/2017
6 weeks after brewing (3 weeks in the bottle) and it tastes fab! - a bit like Punk IPA amber colour, good subtle bitterness that stays in the palate and coming in at about 7%. If only my local would serve beer like this, I might go out more.

    Impressive!
    Review by Jakeon 14/11/2016
I've drunk a fair bit of home brew over the years and thought it was about time I have a go at making some myself. To my infinite surprise, on my first go, using this kit I brewed something I'd be happy to have served to me in a pub. Tasty, refreshing and about 6.7%. I'm on this site right now because I'm going to buy some more. Really hoping it wasn't just beginners luck :)

First Home Brew - Great taste!
    Review by Nigelon 31/10/2016
This was the first home brew kit I tried. Really happy with the hoppy taste. Top quality and tastes just as good as some of the IPA bottles I've bought in the supermarket. I'm now on my second batch!

    Same again please barman!
    Review by Leonon 30/09/2016
Like others here I am just getting back into homebrewing, thought I would start with a kit and saw some great reviews on this one. I thought the kit was a bit pricey but as soon as I opened the box i realized why, excellent ingredients and instructions and I love the additional dry hops. Took just over 2 weeks to finish fermenting, looked very murky when I bottled it but wow did it clear up!! It's been in the bottle for just over two weeks and I just had to have a taste, pleasantly surprised is an understatement! Cracking IPA that is similar to Punk and a few of the other American craft IPA's...I've now got the Pale Ale bubbling away and have high hopes for this one :)

    Outstanding!
    Review by Williamon 17/09/2016
I have returned to home brewing after about 10 years off. This is the first kit I have done so far and I am blown away by the quality. Things have come on a long way. I love a strong flavoured IPA and this is gorgeous. I can't stop coming back to it. The destructions say to leave it in the bottle for around 2 months. No chance! It's going to to give in no time. Highly highly recommended.

    Bonkers!
    Review by Michaelon 07/07/2016
This is an exceptional beer. It is like Sierra Nevada's big brother - tastes a lot weaker than it is! Strong and punchy hops and you would never know it was from a kit. I can't wait to try others in this range

Quite a good US IPA - brewing again!
    Review by Duncon 03/07/2016
Easy to make and quite a nice hoppy US IPA. Very clear and a good head. Not an easy drinker but a good beer to have a few pints when the moods right. IMHO I prefer some of the extract IPAs as the hops seem a bit better balances. Going to make again and see what I think a second time.

    Benchmark Brew
    Review by Carlon 02/11/2015
I love this beer! I try different kits on every order including all the other American beers. After each and every one, I have to make this. Nothing else I have tried is this good and is therefore my benchmark beer. Problem is, all my mates like it too much too. It IS strong so be careful. My mate & I had 5 pints each and were really talking some b0ll0x by the end

    Best beer...
    Review by Fluffyon 30/10/2015
..that I've brewed so far. Very tasty - Nice and hoppy! Very clear, and a good head in the glass. Seems like a good kit range. Hoping that the Mocha Porter turns out as well. Certainly seemed ok when just bottled.

    A great beer
    Review by Meredithon 23/09/2015
I really enjoyed this beer but brewed it a bit weaker than the full 6.4%. Lots of flavour and the sort if hop kick you would expect from an American IPA. I found it provided an equally big kick in terms of the morning after even after only a couple of bottles which was a shame. Weirdly after the beer had matured for a couple of months the headaches stopped....not sure what the science of this is but worth bearing in mind. In the main big beers are worth leaving a bit longer to mature. All in all a really good tasting beer

    American IPA at its best
    Review by Duncon 21/09/2015
Been brewing a number of extracts but needed something a bit quicker to fill a couple of barrels. So as well as the old faithful Wherry (always a cracker from a can!) I gave this a go. I've had a fair few microbrew IPAs out in the US but this would knock the socks off most of them. Crystal clear, great head, and what a taste - hops and more hops from the late dry hopping. Great strength too, a few pints of this and you know it! Will be repeated, no doubt about that.

    Fantastic.
    Review by Roberton 04/09/2015
I'll get the gripe out of the way first. The extract in these kits is supplied in pouches rather than in cans. I much prefer cans since I can use them to measure the right quantity of hot water into the fermenting vessel, thus rinsing all the extract from the can at the same time. I can't do this with a pouch, so can't get all the extract out.

BUT, who cares when the result is this good. I think the start of the show is the packet of hop pellets to use for dry hopping a couple of days before bottling. The aroma these add is delicious and evolves as the beer ages, starting fresh and ageing to a richer and more bitter taste. Fist kit beer I have made that I rate as highly as my favourite commercial offerings.

    Review by davidon 31/07/2015

Drunk cold on the patio with a BBQ life doesn't get much better.

    Nice !
    Review by Gezaon 24/07/2015
It comes with 100 grams of hops for dry hopping so be aware it is hoppy ... it is an American IPA after all :) But let it rest for a months or so and it ends up just really nice. Recommended.

    Excellent American IPA
    Review by Steveon 19/07/2015
Have made this one twice now, and the results are fantastic.
Late hopping gives a beautiful citrus and melon flavours.

Had to rack to a second FV to remove most of the hop residue, and needed a little longer that stated to clear, but well worth the wait. 2 weeks in bottles minimum, but I would recommend 4 weeks if you can wait.

I have tried other IPA's, but this one is definitely the front runner.

    A stunningly good IPA
    Review by pwwhoof on 17/03/2015
Made this kit up with no real expectations.
First of all it was very easy with no boiling for ages and it came with a good amount of yeast so I knew it would have no problem starting up. I followed the instructions broadly but racked to a secondary after 10 days for about 4 days. The finished product was probably my best ever beer. Crystal clear straw coloured IPA. The taste is fantastic as the hops were added late on the 12 day. Everyone thinks I'm a brew genius now. I wasn't going to tell but what the hell. Cheers everybody.

    Excellent Kit
    Review by PeteGon 16/08/2014
Got this back at the end of July, ferment took 11 days at 23C, then another 10 days in the secondary. Tucked into a bottle last night, the aroma is superb, citrus and passion fruit on the nose and already a superb drop. ABV has worked out at 7.8% so a bit strong and after 2 bottles you know you've had a beer! Highly Recomended.
  • Best kit brew
    Review by The Machineon 20/06/2014
Easily the best kit I've ever made. It's on a par with some of the pale ale extract brew recipes. amazing amount of hops give it the flavour you'd expect.
  • Tastes exactly as it should!
    Review by Alex_Lon 19/06/2014
This is the first kit I have made that tastes like a 'proper' brew on the first attempt with no alteration required. Flavour wise, It's perfect for anyone who enjoys certain aggressively hopped Californian pale ales with plenty of bitterness and aroma. It benefits from a reasonable amount of carbonation in bottles - not sure i would recommend it for brewing in a standard pressure barrel. Excellent and very well priced.
  • A minimal effort for a great tasty brew
    Review by madmat01on 17/06/2014
This is probably the best home brew I've had from a kit. If you're a fan of the strong hoppy taste of American Craft Beers then you'll love this one. As mentioned in the instructions it is best consumed within few weeks when the at it's tastiest.
