    Rubbish Bin
    Review by Sevon 14/09/2016
As already stated these bins are flimsy to say the least. Very thin material used. Worst part is the ill fitting lid. DOES NOT SEAL at all. Unable to detect how fermentation was progressing as no activity from air lock due to this problem. Money Wasted !!

    Disappointing
    Review by Heathen Breweron 07/05/2016
Bought two of these to replace the food grade buckets with lids I was using previously. Youngs are a well known brand in brewing and as such I had hoped for a quality product! Now I'm not going to go on about quality because let's face it a fermenter is a glorified bucket with a close fitting lid suitable for food use but the least I expect is that it seals well! These DO NOT unfortunately and my disappointment was compounded by the fact that the two unsuitable buckets I had replaced were a poor seal but better than the Youngs fermenters I had just bought! It would appear after a small amount of investigation that fermenting gases are leaking from the seal directly above the handle mould on the fermenter itself. Disappointing.

    Not great
    Review by Joshon 22/11/2014
Agree with the last review. The lid is definitely not airtight on the 15 litre versions. Even the 10 litre vessels are fine, but these are just not up to scratch. Really unimpressed by this product.

RESPONSE FROM BREWUK - sorry to hear about that Josh, contact customer services via info@brewuk.co.uk and we'll sort this out for you.

    A bit disappointed
    Review by IronBrewon 25/07/2014
I bought this 15 litre FV specifically for lower volume brews such as the Brewferm kits that are typically 9 to 15 litres. I already own a 33 litre Youngs FV, and I am very happy with it, so was expecting good things from this one.

Sadly the 15 litre FV is not made to anything like the same quality standards as the 33 litre FV. The plastic is much thinner, (to the point I would call flimsy), resulting in significant distortion of the FV when it contains even a small volume of liquid. To be precise, when I tried to lift the third full FV by its handle, the round top of the FV became distinctly oval shaped as the walls of the FV bowed under the weight of the liquid. In itself that's not much of a problem, but the real trouble began when I fitted the lid.

The lid of this FV does not fit well, and does not form anything like an airtight seal. The poor fitting lid resulted in no bubbles through the airlock, (from a very vigorous fermentation), and therefore cannot be even close to being airtight. Again, this is not a major problem, but the lack of bubbling in the airlock has meant I have had to take more specific gravity readings than normal, resulting in more loss of my precious beer than usual. This is all the more troubling because I bought this FV for small volume brews!

In short, this FV does work - just - but is far too flimsy, and doesn't seal properly.

I would like to add that the ordering and delivery from BrewUK were excellent as always - so I'm not always grumpy :-)

    Good buckets
    Review by Dentyon 31/05/2014
Using these for storing yeast after cropping in a 10 barrel plant. Short enough to get 3 in a fridge and just big enough to get a good amount of yeast. The height makes acid washing easier and no sinking PH meter.

    Absolutely fine

Exactly as you'd expect - good quality FV, neatly pre-drilled with a hole and bung for an airlock.
