Sanitation

Good sanitation is essential to producing good quality brews. Ensure that any equipment that comes in contact with your brew is properly sterilised and wash you hands! Poor sanitation will result in poor quality drinks and the bacteria will cause unwanted flavours.

The easiest way to do this is to use a sanitiser like VWP, follow the instructions on the product.  Bacteria is everywhere – in the air and on your equipment.  These bacteria interfere with the final outcome of your brew.

Sterilise just before you begin and no longer than an hour before you start and rinse thoroughly.  If any traces of sanitizer are left it will result in a flat pint!  Rinse, rinse and rinse again.

    "I would pay for this".
A truly marvellous ale that really pleases the taste buds, initially we thought it was lacking any real depth but left for a few weeks
