  1. Fantastic Wonderment of Joy and Delight Review by Gristy
    Rating

My adventure began as soon as the parcelforce guy arrived..

I got inside with my new goodies and immediately started tearing off all the packaging.

The next day I decided to get a brew begun and mashed the grain in the morn and batch sparged it later on.

Boiled up the wort with the hops and then chilled it down to fermentation temp in 30 minutes with the chiller.

Then into the fermenter it went with some pre-prepared yeast growing away nicely..

I dry hopped with some very old goldings just to get rid of em, they still smelt lush. After a week i put the beer into a carboy to settle and work out a little more.

Then into a pressure barrel with 73g of DME.

Now just waiting for the first satisfying pint of lovelyjubblyness.

All grain is so much fun, and the aroma's you can create from the mash and boil!! YUM YUM!!

Watch out during the boil though, a room can become like a sauna very quickly indeed a brewery scented sauna! : D

  2. Great service, quality product Review by Liam
    Rating

I've just set myself up in home brewing and have quickly moved onto all grain methods. The service and quality of products I have received from BrewUK is 5 star. Not yet tried my Timothy Taylors all grain kit but everything arrived quickly and complete.

Parcelforce shipping is convenient as if I miss the delivery at home, I just go to my local Post Office. (Posted on 01/05/2013)

  3. All Grain Starter Kit Review by Ad and Al
    Rating

My brewing partner and I were really looking forward to making our first all grain which we did last week. The all grain starter kit was excellent, everything that we needed. Wrapped the mash tun in a spare duvet and over a ninety minute mash it didn't lose a single degree of heat. It was so efficient that the OG should have been 1049 but we achieved 1052! Really looking forward to sampling this beer and would highly recommend it anyone looking to start all grain brewing. Can't wait to do our next one! The only slight downfall is not having a sparge arm to fit the mash tun we received as we had to make our own. If it had a sparge arm it truly would be the ultimate starter kit! 4. very nice set Review by Philip
    Rating

This is a very nice set, comes with everything you need to start all grain from kits.

Not used it yet, but had to make sure to buy the hose for the mash tun, as you don't want it splashing around at that temp, shame they didn't include the hose in the kit, seems a bit daft considering you pretty much need it. Your also going to need hose from your boiler to mash tun for sparing since you need to use the boiler as you HLT.

Apart from that it's great comes with the ingredients for TT clone and gonna do my first batch on Monday!

Also this does not come with Sparge arm, so you will need to use the tried and tested method of using tin foil, I've ordered a rotating Sparge arm, but don't think it will fit in the normal mash tun as its quite narrow but we will see, it's easy enough to make your own Sparge using PVC pipes or copper tubing.

4 stars for not coming with the hose for mash tun, and also the copper wart chiller leaks where the jubilee clips are so needed to add another 2 to each side as I didn't want water leaking in to my wort.

RESPONSE FROM BREWUK - Fair point Philip and we'll include the tubing from now on and we'll also send you some.

  6. Very good starter kit for full grain Review by Keith
    Rating

I've been brewing from kits for some time but was fed up with that same kit flavour. Never really considered full grain brewing because of the hassle. Any way after some research decided to give it a go. I've brewed two batches now and have had good results. This kit is a great idea for any one wanting to get into full grain (I went for the deluxe masher). You can build a lot of the equipment yourself but this kit grantees your going to get everything you need. The ability I now have to experiment with flavours and ingredients to create truly unique beers out ways any extra hassle. great starter pack. (Posted on 15/07/2012)

  7. Good start for all grain brewers Review by James
    Rating

Got this to allow me to brew at home without having to build all the kit again. While it is quite a bit smaller than the 100L brewery I built on a friends farm, it allows me to make small 19L test batches very easily.

Boiler is great. Keeps a nice roiling boil when required. Quick to heat up and easy to clean. Would benefit from a false bottom so as to allow easier cleaning of element (getting all the hops from around the element can be a pain). Also you need to take into account that there is around 0.75l of space where the element is that is very tricky to get liquid out of via the hop filter, easiest to write that liquid off, so take that into account.

Mash tun keeps temp well - lost 1.3C on a 90min mash with 8kg grain. Probably max grain you could fit in is 10kg if you use 1.5L/kg.

Sparging - this kit doesn't come with a sparge arm, so either make your own or buy one - I would say this is the only thing that could improve the kit. Not a massive issue - you can make one out of a sieve and tin foil in about 4 seconds that will barely disturb the grain bed.

Chiller is as chiller does - not really much to say about that, it does a job.

Done 4 brews with it in the month I've had it, would recommend it if you dont have the time or tools to build your own.

  8. All Grain Starter Set Review by Squire
    Rating

Got this kit about 4 weeks ago, it's all made to a high standard and very reliable. I've already done 3 AG BrewUK kits with no problems, except not having enough sparge water on my first, but that was put right by the excellent advise on the BrewUK forum - thanks guys again. The mash tun works really well - I cover mine in an old sleeping bag to help hold temp. The chiller works great - good cold break guaranteed. The boiler is fab, boils quite quickly (use hot water from the tap for quicker boiling), but remember to clean the element right after use - there's even a brush provided for this task - overall I'm very pleased with this and with care it should last a very long time! As well as saving more than £20 if you buy these separately. (Posted on 23/02/2012)
