Inspired by the Vanilla Porter I'm thinking of brewing a Kahlua Stout.
Kahlua extract added to primary.
450ml water
340g dark brown sugar
340g granulated sugar
115 instant coffee
10ml vanilla extract
1 whole vanilla bean
Does anyone have a Stout recipe I could steal?, could I drop the oats or replace with wheat malt in the Oatmeal Stout recipe?.
Pale Malt 4330 grams
Crystal Malt 290 grams
Chocolate Malt 290 grams
Roasted Barley 105 grams
Flaked Oats 290 grams toasted for 20 minutes
Goldings 70 grams 90 minutes
Fermenting: Summer pale ale
Maturing/Conditioning: Marynka pseudo-lager
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

Hi Hamish
Do you think it will really need the instant coffee? It could end up quite bitter and you'll get plenty of coffee flavour from the dark malts.

But without the coffee it won't be Kahlua, ahh you're making me think its not such a good idea, should have just let me brew it & find out the hard way.

Are you talking about Kahlua the liquor? Sorry Hamish I think I was confused

Yes, a home made version at any rate. Maybe I need a sweet stout then?.
