BeermonkeyWorlds Bitterest Ale

1 year ago | Neil (Member)

I've just read in my CAMRA magazine that the worlds bitterest bitter has been made.

Pitstop Brewery have called it The Hop comes in at 8%Abv and is made with Simcoe/Centennial/Chinook hops plus extract isolene. This comes in at a whopping 323! Yes 323 IBU's!!! Jeez the mouth must end up like Ghandi's flip flop and drier than the Gobi Desert - but lets be honest you've got to try it eh?

Good way to get some publicity that's for sure. The 8% will help balance it a bit buts its gonna pack a punch.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.
    Fermenting:
    Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
    Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning

OK .. if anyone is going, can they swing by North London and pick me up.

With a list of ales like that, probably no point thinking about coming back home, it'll be a one-way ticket.

If Carlsberg made pubs.... hang on.

That's a pretty impressive list of ales, sounds like my kind of pub. I went to a pub the other night and everytime a beer ran out and different one came on. They had 4 taps and all changed by the end of the night. They did have a few bands playing in the field behind which made it busier than normal. Nice to have some variety throughout the evening though.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

Might need to check that out next time I visit the parents who live down that neck of the woods. As for round here I spend my time trying to dodge pubs selling Marstons Pedigree (what went wrong there?)and looking for those that have wised up and sell Timothy Taylors Landlord.
