beerlover1983Which cap do i use on pressure barrel

May sound really silly im new to this going to start my first kit tommorow woodfordes wherry.

Just going through all my bits making sure all is there.

On the pressure barrel there are two caps the one with the brass thread and the other with just a release valve im guessing .

Im guessing i would use the one with the brass fitting so i can top up c02 when needed my question is whats the need for the other cap.

Planning:A kegerator build
Fermenting:
Conditioning: Elderflower wine,Dandelion wine,Ribena wine,summer ale
Drinking: Turbo Cider/summer ale/way to amarillo/funked up wherry

    hi,

yes you've guessed right, use the one with the brass fitting so you can top up the CO2.
the other one always comes free with the barrel, the one with the brass fitting you have to pay extra for. out of the 6 kits that I've made and drank already only one of them I didn't need to add co2 for because I primed it with 95g of sugar and only drank a pint or 2 each night. if your going to drink your beer like that then you can some times get away with out having to pay for a £16 cap with brass valve on it but as you've got the CO2 injector cap you may as well throw the other one away.

Drinking - woodfords wherry, brewmaker northumberland brown ale.
Conditioning - Woodfords Great eastern ale, Parsnip wine, Rhubarb wine.
Brewing - nothing at the minute
Planing - Coopers ginger beer, 5L turbo peach thanks to bmsleight, maybe beetroot wine if there enough spare on the alotment,
