Scottish beer makes you pee more than you drink, which is a bit curious

Planning: Vienna lager, Wheat beer fermented with Gutmann yeast, ESB
    Fermenting: Wheat beer
    Maturing/Conditioning:
Drinking: Pseudo-Lager, Oatmeal stout & Shop bought stuff

You know you want it Nath - it has Styrian Goldings (Temptation )

Hope you are enjoying all your new toys??

Planning - Golden ale with lots of Styrian hops
    Conditioning - Theakston Old Peculier
Conditioning - Christmas 2010 (Strong Xmas ale)
    Maturing - Peach wine kit

Hi Greg, Sure it was Safale-S04 I used in the Exmoor. Bet some of the slap packs would give even more amazing results - really tempted to try one when I do the Lightning. See your drinking the Lightning (yum) - what yeast do you recommend?
    cheers

Hi Howard, I find 1318 London III or 1099 Whitbread work well. I've done loads of brews based around that recipe with different hop profiles and yeasts.

My last batch didn't turn as well as normal as I dried hopped with some goldings pellets and just thought I would chuck them straight in no bag or anything. Anyway bad idea as they turned to mush and gave the beer a grassy flavour. Its improved quite a bit over the last couple of weeks and its certainly drinkable but not my best effort but you learn from your mistakes.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

    Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
    Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning

I'd go for the exmoor nath (apart from living on the edge of exmoor for half my life) it's a lovely autumn beer!

    Have a great brewday!

Right the jury is undecided so therefore I call on...

    JUDGE NATHAN the THIRD
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    *Door creaks open*

Judge Nathan - "I hereby declare that you must entice tastebuds by brewing EXMOOR GOLD"

    *Audience Claps*

    Judge Nathan - "But wait!"

*The Jury looks at Judge Nathan with eager eyes*

Judge Nathan - "As there is a 50/50 undecided vote a co-alition must be adheard to......"

*Gasps are heard around the Brewery court and the the Jury are on the edge of their seats*

Judge Nathan - "A co-alition of EXMOOR GOLD and DEUCHARS IPA!"

*Rapturous Applause echos throughout Brewery Court as the judge stands and pours a pint of his finest homebrewed Bitter, takes a wee in a pot (because of ADH - ta Varnish!) and sticks his middle finger up to the Fosters manager (who is there for some weird reason).*
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

So there we have it peeps. Both shall be brewed as it is now written in stone!

    HUZZZAR!

Now to Woo the missus to make sure I can brew on both days, Now thats the hard part!

I'm going to use Wyeast 1099 Whitbread which I've made into a 1 litre starter to help it get going. My recipe is pretty much as the book (almost identical). I'm also going to steep the aroma hops in some hot water before adding (as suggested in the post by Tony). I'm using styrian Celia hops rather than bobek as I've not used them before.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.
    Fermenting:
    Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
    Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning

    Making my mouth water!

Just finished my brew but didn't steep the hops. I'm going to try that with my own hops next week. They've been drying in the attic and I've just bagged them. A rather disappointing 20g harvest - but it is the first year. Smell gorgeous though
