Turbo Limeade
2010-09-05 - Turbo Limeade.
Part 4 of my Turbo series. Ginger Beer, Lemonade, Grapefruit ..... now Limeade.
Very loosely based upon Based upon : http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/index.php/recipes-ginger-beer
385g White granulated cane sugar
1 x Bottle of Sainsbury Lime Juice [250ml]
1/2 tsp. Young’s Wine Yeast
Boil about 1 Litre of water. Add sugar. Boil for about 5 minutes (until bored)
Add 1.5 Litre of cold water and pour in to Empty 5 litre mineral water bottle (poor man’s DJ)
Add lime Juice
Add water to fill bottle to 4.5 litre mark
Add Wine Yeast.
Now. I actually spent some time googling around “potassium metabisulfite” as the Lime Juice lists the ingredients as Juice from concentrate and Preservative Potassium Metabisulfite. (The joy of shopping with young Kids - you do not have time to scan every ingredient)
So the Lime juice has got the equivalent of a Campden tablet dissolved (not sure how much) ....
After reading - http://tinyurl.com/2whbbdw I decided to gamble and just use it. The cost of the contents was 60p juice + sugar 50p + water bottle[1/2] 50p + Yeast. At the most I have lost £2, best case is I learn some-thing.
[1/2 a water bottle as I used one 5 litre bottle for limeade put to top up fruit juice for a mixed wine]
