Hi All, I'm brewing my first Coopers Lager using their Micro Brew Kit. It's been fermenting now for almost 2 weeks (tomorrow) and I've just taken a reading of 1014. I had the same reading a couple of days ago. I've seen a few threads saying that you don't normally get the FG reading stated by Coopers, but is this current reading low enough to bottle? Do I need to wait a bit longer? A bit worried that the beer will spoil! Can't see me achieving anywhere near 1008-1010!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Your beer will be fine for way over the 2 weeks in the fv so dont worry bout' that. What temp are you fermenting at? Did you use sugar or kit enhancer or extract. If you use malt extract or kit enhancer instead of sugar then it wont ferment near the end reading. Temp plays a big part so you could try bumping up the temp a little.

You can also "rouse" the yeast by stirring gently but lets find out the facts first.

Nath, thanks for the reply, that's good to know that the beer will be OK! As you can guess it's my first brew so not sure what's right or wrong at this point. The temp has been between 21 and 24, usually mostly around 21-22 and I used the Coopers brewing sugar that came with the kit. I read in another forum about stirring the brew gently, that was about a week ago and didn't seem to do much.

If thats what the temp was and youve already stirred then it's finished and is all good to get into keg/bottles etc.

To be honest none of my kits ever reached the stated fg so i wouldnt worry, it will tatse fine and make little to no difference.
