Temperature (Another Newbie!)
Hello all,
To start I have tried the search function but cannot find an answer.
I have succesfully brewed and drunk my wherry kit which was a great success.
Onto my next kit and have moved house. The room temp is a constant 22c. My question is when on the kit it says between 20c and 22c is it the room temperature or the liquid temperature?
Will a room temp of 22c be too warm when it starts to ferment?
Thanks for your help!
Gareth

Hi Gareth and welcome to the forum.
The temp relates to liquid temp, which will probably be a bit higher than room temp as the yeast will create a bit of heat in the fermentation. I would aim for slightly lower, ideally 20c as you will get a cleaner flavour but 22c will be okay.

I am in a similar position.
It's seems to be a fairly regular 20-22c in the places around my house that I can store my beer which is fine for fermenting.
Today I have transfered a Wherry from FV to PET bottles and put the in a cupboard. What would happen left them in there and took couple out and stuck them in the fridge for a few days before drinking?

Thanks you for the fast reply and for clearing that up. I have read other posts about lowering the temperature of the liquid so will have a go!
This is certainly a top forum for brewers!

I'd say 5 gallons of liquid fluctuates less than ambient room temperature. So if the room drops to 16c or 18c through the night say. It's likely the brew will average itself around 20c.
