Has anyone brewed one of these?

I was going to have shot at lager next but won't have a way of lagering for a while. So I thought, lager yeast with a warm fermentation looks good to me.

I've seen recipe on this site but has anyone brewed it?

Planning: Something with Styrians, Discovery Clone
Fermenting:

Drinking: Twibute Clone, PJ Clone

Looks like one needs to be careful with the temp control. I should be able to get it at 18C in the new. not yet improved, fermentation cupboard!

So, game on. That's my next brew sorted. Apart from the wheat beer ce soir.

Brewed this about 3 months ago...

    California Steam - 40 pints

    Pale Malt 4630g 90%
    Crystal Malt 360g 7%
    Carapils 155g 3%

    Northern Brewer 9.26% 30g 60 mins
    Northern Brewer 9.26% 10g 10 mins

    Irish Moss 5g 15 mins

WYeast 2112 California Lager - 1 litre starter

    Final Volume: 23 litres
    Original Gravity: 1.047
    Final Gravity: 1.011
    Alcohol Content: 4.6% ABV
    Total Volume: 35.5 litres
    Mash Liquor: 13 Litres
    Mash Efficiency: 70%
    Bitterness: 33 EBU
    Colour: 22 EBC

If I brew this again I'll change the yeast, maybe US-05, I think it may have fermented a little too warm & I got much better efficiency than 70%.

Planning: Wheat beer fermented with Schneider Weisse yeast, a Stout, lots of hoppy pale ales
    Fermenting: Summer pale ale
    Maturing/Conditioning: Marynka pseudo-lager
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

Just read Varnish's thread, I've not had to sling mine but I'm not totally happy with it. The stuff is drinkable but its got a peculiar smell & an ever so slightly peculiar taste that I can't quite put my finger on.

I've used the 2112 twice now & been disappointed on both occasions, I won't be using it again.

I think it was failure to control temperature that made that perticular beer fail.
I also feel that my FV may have picked up an infection, which wouldn't have helped matters.

So I failed at the 2 most important aspects of brewing.
    1) Cleanliness
    2) Temperature control

I would like to repeat the recipe one day. I still have some northern brewer hops.
But my brew days are so few and far between that I don't want to be experimenting.
I just want something I can drink!

Have you got a recipe in mind Simon?

I was going to keep it simple with Maris Otter, Crystal, CaraPils and Northern Brewer. I was toying with using some Cascade at the end because I wanted to try a SNPA later. Basically, I'm going to either pinch Hamish's recipe above or grab one of the Beersmith ones.

I've postponed tonight's wheat beer because I finished work too late. So might do the Steam Beer next.
