1 year ago | Gazz (Member)

Hi

Been a while since I was last on here!

I recently attended the Welsh Beer Festival in Cardiff and tasted a German smoked beer, was absolutley gorgeous!

Would anyone know an extract recipie to make this type of beer?

Thanks

Gareth

Hi Gazz .. nice to see you again!

I have a recipe for a smoked porter somewhere but not sure about copyright. I'd suggest just typing it into google and see what comes up. You could tweak it and change the grain/hop bill slightly, post here and see what people think...?

Hi Gareth, not tried a smoked beer myself but its on the to do list. Not sure if you can really do an extract version as Smoked Malt needs to be mashed but you could try a mini mash version.

Brupaks do a smoked beer mashkit but this is all grain I'm afraid.

    The smoked malts smell delicious!

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

    Hi Gazz,

    http://www.brew-monkey.com/recipes/html/smokedporter.htm

Click on this link and it'll give you a recipe for a smoked porter. I think it's an American recipe mind you so you might have to do some adjustments. Plus i am not sure whether you'll get all the ingredients either? Could be worth looking around.

Do it Gazz, you know it makes sense and it opens up all possibilities when it comes to beer styles as most raw ingredients for pretty much every beer style are available in the UK.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.
