Silicone Sealant
Hi
I had a bit of a disaster last Sunday with my DIY mashtun, Dam thing was leaking at the tap outlet thus filling the inside cavity of the cooler box. I have managed to put a rubber washer and larger locking nut over the thread of the tap thus a better seal.........BUT I have also had to use white silicone sealant around the tap inside the cooler box.
Question is(if anyone knows)....Is this sealant safe if I start mashing in there, I dont really fancy getting poisoned!
Thanks as always!

Not too sure but I would check with whats in the sealant you used. Food mate silicone sealant is food safe but im unsure to what temp. if in doubt ask a local plumber if he uses a food safe and heat resistant silicone sealant.
A few people use jbl weld - http://jbweld.net/products/water.php - its water safe and very heat resistant.

Looks like a safer option Nath!
The stuff I bought doesnt say it is toxic and is usually used for sealing bathroom items, kitchen worktops and so on. I've seen guys on site coverd in the stuff so im thinking it should be ok.
Im going to test run it with steraliser a few times and leave it overnight.
If all else fails I shall purcase a new cooler box as I did kind of botch up the first one!
