Russian Imperial Stout?
Does anyone know if there is a kit available (ideally on this site- I love it!) that makes a brew similar to Russian Imperial Stout? I would love to make this for my fella as a surprise. I am a newbie so need it simple!

Hmmm looks promising - may order some tomorrow... one reviewer said he wasn't sure about the taste though. Actually should be perfect... I forgot my man has no taste (he likes Tennents!),oops except when it comes to me of course!

I think I just may have a go at that too But I think I would try it with added Muntons Foil Pack Spraymalt Extra Dark. Hmm now how do you get the ABV up to near 10% ?

One of my last kits was a coopers stout with dark spraymalt and if I'm honest I could. Have drunk it from the fermenter!

I've got a Coopers Stout conditioning in a keg at the moment - made with 1kg of Extra Dark Spraymalt (and I think, possibly, 500g of medium spraymalt for a little bit of extra oomph)
It is *very* nice.
Real effort of willpower to leave it in the keg to condition.
Fermenting: HONK! IPA - American IPA
Keg Conditioning: London's Burning Red Ale, Thornbridge Oatmeal Stout
Bottle Conditioning: Christmas Ale, "Gobhoblin" - a Hobgoblin clone, Kolsch,
Planning: Nelson Sauvin Single Hop Pale Ale

Thanks for your help everyone. I have finished making it and my fella is over the moon with it! he calls it JGS - 'Jo's Good Stuff'! I used Cooper's stout with 1kg of extra dark malt- and did not scrimp on the sugar. Bottled it ten days ago.
Next issue: I want it to mature in the bottles a bit, but my man cant resist drinking it - I buy him bottles of 'old peculiar' in the hope to keep him off it, but it doesn't work! How do you avoid drinking the stuff too early? Any tips?

Only way I've found of stopping myself drinking up before its prime, is to have a constant throughput.
So I'll always have something ready, something conditioning and something fermenting.
Failing that just hide a dozen bottles early on, so He can appreciate the difference an extra couple of weeks can make.

Ohhhh yeah - in this game it pays to have a "rolling stock".
Soon you will have 90 bottles of beer, 30 bottles of wine, demijohns bubblin' every where and loads a fermentation buckets anf kegs floating around!
