Hi Dan, the Cal Con Saviginon Blanc is really nice, crisp and dry and great after 4 weeks. The cabernet saviginon and Merlot are nice for the red although they are better left for a bit longer.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.
    Fermenting:
    Conditioning:Pale with Styrians
    Drinking:Cascade Pale Ale, Summer Lightning

    Cheers Greg!

Whats better Beaverdale or Cal Con kits?

I like the Chablis part of the Beaverdale Chablis Blush Kit but not keen on the Blush part! never had a Rosé Chablis before! I'm more of a white person! but parents like red!

I want a quick white as I developed my liking for wine whilst i worked in france (we got wine free and each bottle cost around €25-150! so my taste for wine is of expensive kind! and want a cheaper option to the £10 a bottle Pouilly-Fumé/Chablis I prefer!

Oh and Greg its good to see you are posting out to europe as I'm planning another 6 months out in france next year so.....thats my brewing problem solved!

Hi Dan, sounds like you have been spoiled with your wine preferences!

Not sure the cal con can quite live up to that but its very drinkable (especially at the price). I haven't tried the beaverdale as yet but I think that are of similar quality. I would probably go for the Sav blanc as this is usually quite crisp, dry and slightly fruity. I guess just try a 6 bottle kit and see how it turns out, see if it matches your taste.

That fruit wine (vin white) recipe which I posted is really nice. Dry, crisp and only very slightly fruity so can recommend that if you have a bit more time. I'm going to knock up a batch in the next few weeks so I'll post up some pics. Works out really good value too.

Do you have a turbo cider recipe as I think quite a few people would be into that.

    Planning:Maybe a lager.

Spoiled nah! it just what the clients got! (they paid over £1000 just for the accomodation) we always were sent to many bottles and couldn't see them go to waste, On a regular basis we had spare bottles of Pol Roger (wiston churchill fav champagne), Saviginon Blanc, Pouilly-Fumé, A Vintage St. Emilion, Merlot plus the odd bottle of port or banyuls which I dont like! oh and if we had kind guests they would often leave nearly full bottles of Gin/vodka! One group of guests sent out there own wine(bankers for you!) and each bottle cost over £100, they left us 4 cases of the wine! and several crates of beer!

I'll have alook into the wine kits after my op! im looking for a few easy brews todo! so might dust off one of my spare kit beers that i've got lying in a cupboard!

I'm just about to leave for wales and the British Champs so I will dig my TC recipe when I return (hopefully we can emulate last years performance and make it on to the podium)
