hi guys, i'm having great problems with leaking quickserve taps.
one keeps seeping from around the black rubber seal, could i be tightening it up too much?
the other is driping constantly from the tap no matter what poition the tap is in.
any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Chad, The only thing that fixed the last leaky one I had was to change to tap.

    hi

might not be tight enough on the one leaking from rubber seal.
the other one sounds like the barrel is over pressured. check if the bottom of the barrel is swelled up and if so you've got to release some of the pressure some how. my method was to down as many pints as i could but Nath said (on another thread) you could just tweak the pressure relef band on the top of the barrels cap.

    hope this helps

Drinking - woodfords wherry, brewmaker northumberland brown ale.
Conditioning - Woodfords Great eastern ale, Parsnip wine, Rhubarb wine.
Brewing - nothing at the minute
Planing - Coopers ginger beer, 5L turbo peach thanks to bmsleight, maybe beetroot wine if there enough spare on the alotment,

it could be excess pressure. My standard barrel used to do that if I didnt monitor the pressure. I just released some and bingo! All done. i use a quickderve on my last fv so I could attach a bottling stick to it as the size is around the sames.

Heh. This page is permamently up in my browser in work. That and the spreadsheet I use to plan my brews.

On the flip side I haven't had a pay rise in 2 years. Ah well.

    Hi all
I am currently waiting for a wherry to clear in a pressure barrel (my first brew) and every time I take a sample I find that the tap starts leaking, last night I lost almost half a pint. I have been relieving the pressure and this seems to stop the leak but will I have to do this all the time??

Conditioning - St Peters Ruby Red Ale, Extract Stout/Porter
Drinking - Coopers Heritage Lager, Triple Hop Pale Ale

Nope, you will just have to drink faster!

Is it a quick serve tap? If so then make sure that when you close it its at a 90 degree angle, if you push it all the way to the barrel it will leak.
