out of date yeast
been given some out of date yeast sachets (2007), would they still be viable, or is it not worth the risk?
Cheers

Never worth the risk .. all that beer down the drain for the sake of a couple of quid!
(with grateful thanks to the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and slightly adapted)

I wasn't sure of the shelf life, I agree not worth risking it.
Is there much advantage of using the S-04 over the youngs or muntons? ,(on a standard 1 can kit) apart from saving a quid on each pack?
Cheers

Different yeast will give you finished beer totally different flavours so when you ask if there is an advanteage the answer could be yes or no! S04 is a great yeast that ferments fast, lets lots of flavour through and compacts well on the bottom of keg/fv/bottle, but in the end the choice is yours!
