Newbie - Coopers Microbrewery issues
Hi all,
Ive got the Coopers Lager kit (from Brew UK obviously). Ive followed the instructions to the letter, been carefull with hygene etc, and after 9 days in the fermenter, i still havent had a single bubble through the airlock and my hydrometer reading is at 1013(1014 after 8 days)(not 1008 after 4-7 like it says). There cant be any air escaping unless there is a major problem with thenew kit (the lid cant be tightned any more, the tap is securely on and ive siliconed around the outside of the airlock as this seems the most likely leakage area. Please help, I dont want to loose the enthusiasm of a poor start to homebrewing! Thanks

Dont worry! The co2 has been escaping from somewhere as your gravity is dropping so not to worry there! Here is a thread on bubbles! - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/forum/topic/no-bubbles-through-airlock#post-7228
What temp do you have the beer at? And dont worry too much about the instructions Ive never had a kit that hit both og and final gravity.

That's a little high. I would aim for closer to 20c. Don't worry though it will be fine.

I bottled the 'Ready in 2 weeks Wheat Beer' at 1014 on Saturday, my beers seldom go below 1012 & can honestly say I've never had one drop to 1008. Best not to worry it'll be fine.
Fermenting: Summer pale ale
Maturing/Conditioning: Marynka pseudo-lager
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff

Hi Hodgo,
How did your beer turn out? I had the exact same issue with my Coopers English Bitter!
