Well I am completely puzzled by 3 seperate brews all having an eggy aroma. Brew 1 was the ginger beer recipe I followed from this site. I made it with tap water and no campden tablets (this has been finished and bottled and still has the smell). Brew 2 elderberry wine also containing tap water but with campden tablets and grape juice (currently in demi johns). Brew 3 apple cider from juice pressed last sunday with only campden tablets and yeast added (also in demi johns). All equipement is thoroughly sterilised and I've had no problems with all the beer that I make. Is there something I can add to get rid of the smell as the liquid itself all taste fine.

I wouldn't worry about it yet - or at all. Quite often a brew will have an eggy smell - it's the yeast farting

    *cough*

Well .. errrr not really, but cider is famous for it, it will go eventually unless there is something seriously wrong, but I doubt that. Give it a while, be patient (he says quite easily but always finds it impossible to follow his own advice), and it'll all turn out fine.

Good luck! (btw, what yeasts did you use?)

Beer will get you through the times of no money better than money will get you through the times of no beer

My wheat beers have an eggy/banana smell when fermenting, I wouldn't worry about it.

Planning: Wheat beer fermented with Schneider Weisse yeast, a Stout, lots of hoppy pale ales
    Fermenting: Summer pale ale
    Maturing/Conditioning: Marynka pseudo-lager
Drinking: Wheat beer, ESB, Vienna lager & shop bought stuff
