Hey peeps,

Well im reaching the big 30 at the same time as my other half and she wants a party so she decided in her wisdom to rent out the nearest cattle market and magically transform it to a....ahem.....disco!

yay.

Anyhoo, now Ive had a few im searching though mp3's, cd's and online for cheesy and good music.

Help us out here peeps. I love 80's stuff, rock, metal and anything that people 25-65 can dance to. Offensive dont matter!

Oh and your all welcome to come!

    Nice one, Nath. Happy 30th.

80's music is a very good choice, sir.

At our wedding the DJ who came on after the band played mostly 80s stuff. Much better crack than the band, as it turned out. I actually slipped him a couple of MP3's that I INSISTED he play:-

Men Without Hats - 'Safety Dance'
    Faith No More - 'Epic'

He played loads of decent stuff from Adam and the Ants to Erasure, to Human League. Super stuff. Only low point was when he started that 'Rock the Boat' nonsense.

You never go wrong with a bit of Depeche Mode and any of the New Romantics too. Bit of Madness is always a winner. Hope that helps.

Planning: More SNPA, more experimental cider
    Fermenting: Marston's Pedigree
    Conditioning (Bottles): Warsteiner Lager Clone
Drinking (King Keg): Fullers London Pride

Now that's a hard one which I'll have to keep adding to as I think of them.

House of Pain - Jump Around
De La Soul - Me myself and I
The Sugar Hill Gang - Rappers delight

That's it for now but there will be more. 80's isn't really my scene but I do know tracks that will get people bopping.

Ahhhhh safety dance...Man thats a funny tune. Always reminds me of when peter griffin (from family guy) has to cause a diversion and it starts playing and he does this really funny messed up dance.

    Sweet. Nice one Bazza

Ha greg Ive got 2 out of 3 of these tunes! guess which one I dont!

Hey - happy birthday to you and the missus nath!

I'm not a big fan of 80s music .. although there is some better stuff (as BM has said) - mainly frm the early 80s when there was still a bit of punk around.. Considered a theme party - punk would be a laugh - or if that's not right - something like the boat that rocked/austin powers .. all the 60s gear. All the women would wear mini skirts too .. worth considering.

Any way .. hope you both have a great one!

Beer will get you through the times of no money better than money will get you through the times of no beer
(with grateful thanks to the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and slightly adapted)

If you can't take homebrew in or they don't serve ale then change of venue required... No joking there. But you never know they might let have your own ale... Would go down a storm Nath i reckon.

If it's boppin you want then it's probably best I don't mention great 80's favourites like the Cure, the Smiths or Joy Division at this stage. THough if the party gets too rowdy or a fight breaks out then a bit of the above would help calm things down. You never see shoe-gazers fighting. Too busy gazing at their shoes.

Then what do I know; I always break out my Nick Drake collection when there's a party in the house. Never exactly gets the conga going, that stuff.
