Low / no carbonation
Hi guys my way to amarillo brew has been in the bottle for almost two weeks now and theres very little carbonation
I had stuck it in the shed for a day and a half thinking I was doing the right thing and freeing up space for my next brew but after reading a bit more realised this will just make it worse
I used coppers beer enhancer 1 to prime my bottle but only used 80g which I realise now it about half what I should have used.
My question is, is my brew ruined or is it possible to rectify my amateur mistake
Thanks
Sam

80g should be enough to prime 21 lts of beer. What makes you think you should have used double? Did you brew a double lot? Is it in crown capped bottles, swing top or screw top? All you can really do is leave it indoors at around 20°c for another week or so and try opening one. Then another week and try again.
Planning: - To get some more brews on now the weather's a bit cooler
Fermenting: - Ginger Beer experiment
Conditioning: - A normal bitter with Styrians
Drinking: - All of it!!

Well the reason I thought I should have used double is the calculator I used on tastybrew.com For my next brew says I should use 5.2 oz which is 147gm
As for the bottles all but one are crown caps havnt opened the swing top yet as it's a 750ml bottle and most of the others are 330ml so didn't want to waste as much by opening if it ain't right
I have since bought it back I doors which is around 23c and hopfully it's carbed enough for march
Thanks for putting my mind at rest that 80g is enough as was worrying that I'd screwed up my first batch
Out of curiosity how much priming sugar do you guys use for an ipa style beer
Thanks

Also when I tried a bottle on sunday it did have a little carbonation and held it's head but since putting it in the shed the beer seems to have absorbed the co2 will this come back after bringing back into the warm ?
Thanks again

Yep bring em back in the warm and leave em for 2 weeks, they will be fine. Priming is upto the individual. I used 85g sugar when bottling last, dont like my beers too carbonated. I used 110g with my lager as it needed to be a bit fizzier
Plannin'-
Loads a beer after an upgrade!

LIke Nath said, carbonation is a personal thing. I standardly use 140gm regardless of the style of beer, cos I like em fizzy.
The waiting games a lot easier if you have a healthy supply of ready beer...
Out of curiosity, how did you prime? Per bottle, or in a batch? Some of my early brews were a little hit and miss where I didnt mix the priming throughout the while batch properly before bottling. Some bottles had nothing, whilst others should have been drunk with a flake sticking out the top. I worked my way through the lot though, like the brave little soldier I am.

I mixed the dme with a little bit of beer and made in to a syrup and pored into the bottle bucket as I was syhping the beer from the fermenter I didn't stir it at all as I assumed the syphing would have mixed it up well enough I personally like my ale with a nice head but not that fizzy.

I do the same, but put the priming mix in first then add the beer. As its siphoning, I slowly use the hose like a stirring stick to make sure its well mixed (being careful not to introduce air into it obviously...)
Now, getting a good head is another story. Not something I've cracked yet. Seems there are a number of factors that influence it. And I'm not talking about buying flowers or doing the dishes.

Well I've done the dishes and got her flowers and the first bottle turned out like this

That was from a week of carbonating and a couple of hours in the fridge the head stayed the whole way down the glass but by the time I got round to drinking it, I was a little too tipsy to appreciate and judge the beer since putting them out in the shed the co2 has just disappeared.
They've been back in my living room for the last 24 hrs and hoping another week will rectify it and take it back to the one in te picture above
